I know it goes against Steeler policies and so forth but last season wasn't a fluke. He's the very best and his work ethic is second to none. I just think they have no choice.

Agreed. Rules are made to be broken ... it's time to pay the man. Don't know where the extra $$$ is going to come from ... but it's time.

o there is always a choice ...there is the right choice and the wrong choice....lets hope the FO is smart enough to make the right choice...Pay The Man!

He'll get his money

Fast forward, 5-8 years. Thoughts in AB being the greatest offensive steeler of all time? Not just stats because in today's NFL it's easier to come by.

He keeps this pace up and BB lasts I think he will be.

He will get paid, but he's not getting a new contract until 2017. I said earlier this year, that I expect the Steelers to restructure AB's contract into a front loaded signing bonus again this year, as they did last year. He gets paid, is happy, and he knows the Steelers will keep their word to sign him to a HUGE contract the following year.

He's the last one left from the "Young Money" crew. Wallace and Saunders have sailed on. Steelers look smart in keeping Brown, now pay him as he's the best in the business. We got one!!!! Go Steelers!!!!

His only peers are HOFers. Harrison, Rice, Moss. He's carving out his own niche. Rice is constantly admiring AB's game now. They're cut from the same cloth. It's a desire to be the best, along with a work ethic that is second to none. That's how greatness is attained.

I'm no capologist or bean counter, and with that being said, I'd think Ben would renegotiate a bit to keep him. The man needs to be paid. He has earned the windfall he will get, I just hope its from us.

I'm not ok with handing new money. I'd be ok with turning his salary into bonus cash and then adding incentives for production. 1 million for 1,800 yards and 1 million for every 100 yards after. 500k for 125 catches and 10k for every catch after that. 500k for 8 tds and 100k for every td after that. It would keep him motivated and allow him to earn more without extending his contract.

I'm not one to say that the Steelers should break tradition and was firmly against it this past offseason, but Brown has more than lived up to his contract. He should get a new deal this offseason simply because it is the right thing to do.

no Steeler rule broken if you wait til after the season and pay him.....

My guess is they will do what they did this season and give him part of his remaining salary as a bonus and then negotiate the contract with 1 year left on it.

Beachum

Who do you prioritize?

I don't think AB would be incentivized by an extra $2 million, he's wanting tens of millions.

AB-One of the top players in the league who has earned a new contract even with two years left.
Bell-Will be interesting to see what they do, but a deal should get done. It's a matter of when.
Bryant-Under contract until 2018.
Shazier-Nowhere near the end of his deal. Ends in 2018.
DeCastro-It took some time, but earned an All-Pro berth and will be the foundation for the line.
Gilbert-Under contract until 2020, no worries here.
Beachum-He's a guy I root for and I hope they bring back, but not sure of the deal he'll ask for. I think he regressed a bit before the injury and was still shaky in pass protection. Would rather have AV and Foster for a lower cost than Beachum with AV as the backup.

If there's a QB in the league who'd take less money, it's Ben. He saw Bettis do it, and said how much he respected it. No question he wants to keep AB here.

Look for a couple of veterans to take a mild haircut to keep AB. If that happens, and AB stays healthy, he's the best ever and a first ballot Hall of Famer.

They'll just move enough of his 15 million left forward to placate him for one season. I'd imagine his 2016 base will get converted to a million bucks, he'll get about 11million to sign in a restructure. His cap figure will remain approximately the same and his 2017 contract will essentially be torn up after the 2016 season concludes and he'll get a handsome new deal. They'll figure something out.
