I have to tip my hat ( Although I seldom wear one ) to Colbert. He has done a good job identifying other teams cast offs in free agency, and found a diamond or two!

Villanueva looks like a solid Left Tackle in the making or a good future Right Tackle. Now the Steelers can let Beachum walk ( He'll get us a 3rd to 4th round comp pick in 2017 ), and save at least 9 million in cap space.

Boswell has been impressive. I think he's an upgrade over Suisham and a much cheaper one at that! I like his range and accuracy. Suisham's range was an issue at times.

D. Williams has been playing ver well as Bell's replacement and gives the offense better speed, and better power running. Williams is averaging 5.0 yards a carry and has scored 5 times. He might not be the pass receiver Bell is, but with AB, Miller, or Bryant, the team has plenty of options.

Cockrell looks like our best 3rd corner in a while. The guy's a playmaker type. Very smart and alert. I liked him in round 3 in his draft year.

Well done Kevin. If not for these moves, I think we lose two games we won.

Yep Coach, some good pick-ups indeed. It all balances out when you factor in the bad ones as well.

Mitchell for all his stupid crap sure has come into his own and he's making plays. Keep making plays and less penalties, please.

Tomlin hasn't really let Boswell try a long field goal in a critical situation yet. Let's wait and see.

Nix and Berry have been pleasant surprises as well.

Maybe not quite when you consider we're 6-4.

The record is more reflective of Ben being out rather than the free agents on the team.

Oh so its Colbert now? I thought it was Tombert, or is that only when they're bad picks? People on this board will do whatever they can not to give Tomlin any credit, but he's sure the first one you all blame when things go wrong.

To clarify, I think Colbert has missed a bit too much in the draft over the past three years. However his moves in free agency have been A+ this year! This is a free agency type of thread.

I still believe Colbert owes his job to picking Ben, and Tomlin kept his because of Ben. We saw how averge this team was without Ben. AB turned near invisible, and the big play with Byrant was all but gone.

Not sure where u get your information from but we've won more games than we lost with backups playing in Ben's absence under Tomlin since he's been here. Also Tomlin is just as reponsible for ALL the players brought in here during FA. Tomlin kept his job because he brought in and helped drafted a bunch of good players. Also coached them to become good team players. And what team don't struggle without their franchise QB? Yeah AB won't be as effective but most of the time we still find a way to win.

Villanueva is an Army Ranger. If anyone can adapt&overcome he can. I hope he goes all pro in the future.

I think the schedule helped while Ben was out.

We lost to a very bad Ravens team. We barely beat a very bad Chargers team. We lost to a Kanas City Team that has a losing record. The Cardinals win was sweet. So 3 of the 4 teams we played had losing records and two of them will be picking in the top 10 in the 2016 draft.

I disagree, free agency is mostly Colbert's job. He's the GM. Tomlin has a say, but he's not the primary force scouting the NFL's free agents.

I disagree without Ben, Tomlin would have been fired. He inherited a Franchise QB in his prime. That's very rare.

My signature says it all until we do something in the playoffs

Funny, I don't see one mention of Colbert in the Mike Vick or Jacoby Jones thread.. Just all Tomlin. Another prime example of the delusional hypocrisy that's posted in these forums.

Kansas City doesn't have a losing record. They are 5-5 and one of the teams in the hunt for a wild card.

Since free agency is "mostly Colbert's job." and Tomlin only has a "say" because "he's not the primary force scouting the NFL's free agents", does that mean Cam Thomas, Scobee and Vick are on Colbert's ledger?

Edit: Almost forgot about Jacoby ... thanks Steelz.

Did you not see bad clock management, and poor play calling while Ben was out? I sure did. Why do Tomlin coached teams lose so frequently to the inferior opposition?

During the past three years, he has lost 3, 3, and 4 times to teams .500 or below...and many of those teams were really bad. To lose this often, or play down to the level of inferior opposition suggest bad game plans, play calling, clock management, and strategy. That Steelz is on the head coach.

At the time, was there a better free agent QB than Vick for Colbet to sign? Landry Jones to me woudl be very bad on an average offensive team. Jones has tremendous talent around him ( Bell, AB, Bryant, Miller ) and a solid OL. Yet his production was below par. A weak #2. Charlie Batch was much better. And like I said the schedule was easy while Ben was out. Dare you add up the oppoents W and L records while Ben was out?

KC Had a losing record when we played them

I thought to spend a 6th for Scobee was a bad move, but we did find a money kicker and a much cheaper option in 2016. A positive in my book.

Cam Thomas sucks, but he's the last DL player we dress for games. He won't be on the team next season. Other's teams last DL player is just as bad if you want to be fair.

I call them like I see them. Colbert is not always good, but he has been in free agency this season. I would not dismiss Williams from being in the PRO BOWL.

OK since you want to go there.. 2006 Bill Cowhers last year, We lost to a Raiders team that finished 4-12, 2-14 the year before (With Ben playing) Also Shut out by a Jaguars team that year that finished 8-8, 2001 we finished 13-3 and lost to a 6-10 Jagaurs team that year, 2002 we finished 10-5 and lost to a 4-12 Texans team that year, also lost to a 7-9 Titans and 7-9 Saints team that year all under Cowher... And those are just the years we've had winning records, we lost to poorer teams when we finished with losing records for the year. You act like this is something new to this team, or to the NFL for that matter and we lost to those type of teams with our best players playing, THIS year we lost to some WITHOUT our franchise QB playing, including one we had won but our kicker lost it for us. Losing to inferiour teams have been going on for a while now.. not just with Tomlin.

I was HOPING you'd bring up the losing to inferior opponents. So Tomlin gets the blame but our franchise quarterback you pimp so hard bears no responsibility in it ? Youll say the loss to NYJ last season reflected on Tomlin, but give Ben a pass although he stunk that game. When we lose to bad teams, usually our quarterback is playing below "the standard". So, go ahead and tell us that Ben bears no blame in some of these losses to these "horrible teams". Please say it..................

so what, he's being money unlike Scobee and many others around the league
