Yeah, it's the run blocking that needs work. Pouncey and Decastro are technicians but they are light and not great run blockers. The NFL in general sucks at run blocking though. That's why they few teams that are actually good at it seem unstoppable at times. MOst defenses have gone light to defend the pass.

I was hoping that when the Steelers drafted Snell, it meant they were going to run the ball more from 2 TE or with a lead blocker. Nope. SUre, Nix got hurt but let's not act like Nix is some irreplaceable guy. The fact they didn't replace him shows how little they planned to use the FB.

The Titans showed how actually blocking people never goes out of style. I'm sick of this notion that if a defense puts 8 in the box, it means you automatically pass. You can block 8 in the box. You just have to scheme for it and have a TE that can block.

Steelers better get a TE that can block. It's tough to find them coming out of college. Most college TEs are either split out like WRs or they are essentially an extra OT. There are very few that can do both.

It's the run blocking. That's the issue. Everyone is built to be super pass happy.

All due respect but I'm not sure whoever is tallying the sacks watched all our games. Seems like these numbers are pretty low. There were more unabated rushes to sack the QB this year than I've seen in a long time. The chart also doesn't figure in how many times the QB was hurried because he had a guy in his face. Bottom line is, this OL needs rebuilding and probably a better coach.

Nice find slash, thank you.

Those totals are lower than my perception but I'm sure my perception was affected by all the hurries & pressures. It seemed like there would be more.

As some have said, our OL is better at pass blocking (due to all the years of Roethlisberger's skill set) than run blocking. Their needed to be some high draft picks invested in the next few years. The current OL coach is a step down from Mike Munchack and that is not a disgrace ac MM is HOF caliber.

QB brings a lot of the finer points out within the offense. It does show how much BEN R. Has covered due to his HOF play.

Don’t believe everything you find on the internet.

This has to be a snap shot of some point in the season as the Steelers allowed 32 sacks, not 12.

not every sack is on the OL. A free blitzer is on the RB not the OL most times. A blitzer coming off the edge could be nobody’s fault. Or really, it’s on the QB for not adjusting the protection.

Paraphrasing a little, but how else do you explain going from a strong OL to what occurred this season after Munch left?

I am sure teams loading the box due to crappy QB play contributed....

samuals as at fault for some not picking up the extra blitzer uin the gun. A cheaper alterative then Foster will be current Bills G Spain, he was great on the Titans last year tought should of replaced an aging and heavy Foster as he gets no push in the run gamne anymore, maybe use our comp pick on a G I would pick up the option on finney cut foster and draft Ruiz who like Finney could be dual C/G until mikle hanges up his cleats, meanwhile he could play LG thats if we wanna save and not pay Finney 3 mill.
I think Ruiz is projected asa 3rd-4th so with the comp pick would be ideal spot

One thing losing AB, and Ben being hurt did was clearly show where the holes are on offense. Great players can sometimes make you overrate the players around them. The talent on the Steeler offense was exposed this year. Reminds me of one of the reasons why LC Greenwood hasn't been able to get into the Hall Of Fame. Skeptics see him surrounded by Jack Ham, Joe Greene, and Jack Lambert, and wonder what he would have done with mere mortals in those positions. We never had to find out (and I still think LC was great), but we had those sorts of questions answered this year about the Steeler offense. We need a first rate running back, a stud offensive lineman to replace one of the low pedigree undrafted linemen (there are 3 starting), and a tight end. A trustworthy backup qb is needed as well.

My perception is reality. The Oline wasn't nearly as good this year. Even big Al had a couple games where he was abused. Including the infamous Browns game where he was turnstiled all night.

That's kinda what I was thinking too as I knew there was more than 12-ish so figured others were credited with those. Thanks for a little better understanding.

LC had the ABSOLUTELY bestesteverestest GOLD cleats money could buy. Make no mistake on that.!

Yep, but like many have already mentioned here, there are a lot of factors that go into that. And it was Myles Garrett, but you're right, Big Al was absolutely abused that night.

the bears got stupid and fired there oc and o-line coach we should hire both and rebuild the running game. but we won't and well sitting right here next year arguing and pointing fingers watching the playoffs from the sidelines. there is this great feeling in Pittsburgh that if ben hadn't got hurt wed been in the playoffs yada yada yada. bullshit he played last year put up 5k yards passing and we sat home watching the playoffs! the coaching staff just isn't top shelf pure and simple. could you imagine butler and company trying to defend the titan running game? or the chiefs passing game? imagine ben trying to stay upright against any of the defenses that made the payoffs this year?? ben coming back only solves one problem but it don't solve the worse one... the coaching....

You can not point to anything Ben didn't do well last year as the man was hurt from the getgo. That would be like us cutting your hands off and mocking you for having **** all over your toes. I mean why didn't your feet do a good job cleaning up? See that is just a ****** way of looking at Ben in his lame duck short stint showing. A dead horse reminder there was no vet available to take on the season. Just two green prospects.
