I'm assuming Gilbert/ Skipper got redshirts with their notice that they made the team. Three playing inside linebackers and a special teams player. Three playing special teams OLB ahead. Someone will have to get hurt for them to get a hat. Maybe one as a SP. Teams. Ola made some smoking good punt cover tackles. I think he gets a hat for sure and should get pass rush opportunities.

Skipper should get a chance to play , he made to many plays to be red shirted Gilbert was around the ball each time he was on the field needs experience but so does the first rounder Bush. Will Tomlin give them the chance is the question.

I think they will give the youngsters a chance to spell the starters as games wear on sorta like Chickillo....hopefully they will be more productive than him however.

For sure these guys are a good problem to have and the outcomes now fall squarely on who's running the D. With reps I feel they all make a push this year for their hat, not to mention injuries.

You can't hide talent. It will manifest itself soon enough..

Will ola be healthy and in shape for the first game? Skipper will get a hat at the start of the season

Too bad they kept Dirty Red. He offers nothing on defense other than two steps too slow and behind a defender. I would love to see the tandem of Bush and Gilbert at ILB at least once this year. That is some serious speed in the middle! I would have rather kept wr Holden or another DLmen rather than Red, but that’s just my opinion.

Some of you guys might not want to give credit on this move, but this was the best personnel move the Steelers could have made. Any one of those young LBs would have been claimed to a roster. Steelers protected all of their young pass rushers, and I predict, will IR one of their LBs (Chick or Ola). Then they will call up a WR. With so much WR talent on the cutting room floor, the Steelers will have no trouble bringing up their guy, though I still don't know who they will call up. In order, my choice would be:

Spencer, Holton, Eli, though I really think Holton will be the call up, with all of his ST ability.

Watching the preseason games, I realized Matekevic/Chickillo are some go-getters and know the defense. I do like them. I think they are some damn good JV linebackers. I just hope their presence doesn't take away game action from Skipper/Gilbert, who could maybe, you know, be actual contributing NFL players...

Who is holden?

Sorry, it was supposed to be Holton. My son’s name is Holden and I have been thinking about him this weekend. Back in December he decided he no longer wanted to be associated with his mom and I. Haven’t talked to him since, so I guess my fingers typed a little of what I was thinking.

I was about to say “holden” what?

Hang in there and keep letting him know you are there for him. I hope you get your beef worked out. Keep communicating even if it feels like a failing effort.
