The steelers are ranked 29th in adjusted cap space of 32 teams for 2015. Soon Ben will get a new deal. In 2016 Beachum is a free agent. How much will it cost to re-sign him.? A lot. Maybe 7-8 million a year or more. We might not have enough room. If we lose Beachum, Gilbert will have to move to the left side, and Adams who is a free agent in 2016 would start at Right Tackle. There could be an alternative plan to avoid a domino effect.

what about jake fisher in round one? He’s a technician and pass blocker that had a very impressive combine. Fisher is 6’6” 306 pounds with 33 ¾ arms. He moves very well running a 5.01 40, and a 4.33 20 yard shuttle. 25 reps on the bench is okay, but with Fisher he has the right type of frame to add more weight. As a run blocker Fisher is decent. Better than Beachum. I had Fisher in my mocks in round three, but that was before he killed it at the combine. Now I think he's a late first round pick.

Fisher is a round 3 guy.

He was a round three guy before the combine. Now I think he's a late first round pick. Those mock draft web sites are ofter a little slow to update things.

I considered OT Clemming's a well but he did not look good at all during senior bowl week and is very raw.

Maybe rd 2, but no way is he a round 1 guy. I like Sean Hickey in rd 4. Guy can play T or G.

I could see it happening IF we trade back and our #1 guy is not there.

I like DJ Humphries better than Clemmings though (based on 'tape alone'). It also would give us a bit of a fraternity along the OL w Gilbert and Pouncy also coming from the Gators. He has quick enough feet to play outside and Clemmings has shown issues w speed rushers.

dude, keep all your **** together.
do not go and start your next thread entitled "DB Round 1?" or I will lump all your ******* threads into one nice, neat package.

Punter in Round 1?
LS in Round 1?
PK in Round 1?
FS in Round 1?
SS in Round 1?
ILB in Round 1?
OLB in Round 1?
DE in Round 1?
NT in Round 1?
RB in Round 1?
WR in Round 1?
QB in Round 1?
TE in Round 1?
ST in Round 1?
Bench role player in Round 1?

there you go.

Picking a LT in round one if CB and OLB are gone would be a great move

Except there's likely to be at least one player at those positions of equal or greater value then the O'lineman stated in the thread, especially OLB which is deep with talent. Since those positions are higher priority, drafting O'line in the 1st is highly unlikely.

The cap situation will continue to improve as aging vets and non performers are released along with contract extensions so the cap is a non issue. Beachum will be extended and it won't be a cap buster deal.

I'm all for picking the BPA. I'm also for waiting until the end of your pick to make it, just in case someone offers you something crazy for it...

Why dont they draft Gurly or Gordon? or trade up for Mariota?

The ODDs of us taking a OL in the 1st, is absolutely non-existant. WTF, how stupid do you think our FO / coaching staff is? Who was the genious who thought this option up? H-E-L_L-O ???????

.

Fisher in not a round one OLineman. MAYBE round two. He seems to be much more athletic than people thought going into the combine--that is great... but it makes me wonder. If guys like Fisher go anywhere in round one... it will be GREAT news for our second pick. There are at least a half dozen OLinemen better than Fisher. If he goes on round one or anywhere before us in round two??? WOOHOO!!!

Now... don't get me wrong wrong. I life Fisher. I would love to see what Munchak could do with him. He is probably a RT... but he MAY be able to make it at LT with good coaching. They will have to figure out how to utilize his as yet untapped athletic ability.

I give you Jarvis Jones in answer to your question, I second with franchising Worilds, I will give you a third with Blount who is back with the cheatriots I will give you a fourth in the contract that Woodley got and cutting Harrison we still have Woodley's salary on the books this year. I would not be surprised if we did take an offensive lineman. The only thing it would take for that to happen would be a run on corners, safeties and linebackers prior to our pick and there might be little else worthy of our pick but offensive linemen. If we had a shot at 2nd to third round talent in positions of need or 1rst round talent on the offensive line we would be silly not to take it.

Why wait for trade offers when you can sprint to the podium?

There are no circumstances under which trade offers had already been sought and/or negotiated before our turn on the clock.
