The only surprise player I think who may not make the team, who was a contributor last year would be DHB. I'm not saying he won't make the team, I'm just saying he has the biggest chance, at a position filled with talent, to miss out on a roster spot. His excellence at Special teams makes him a really tough cut though.

I think a lot of people think Justin Hunter will make the team after his start in training camp. He will not though.

Dobbs will be put on the practice squad. They will bring in a veteran as 3rd QB.

Dobbs won't stick on the PS. He'll get a roster spot but won't dress much. Allen is looking better than many thought in the secondary. He is improving a good deal already from what I have read. He still may hit the PS but may not stick there. I do think Coates is gone unless there is an injury or Bryant doesn't come back for some reason. DHB should be gone but I still think Tomlin will keep him for his special teams play and his leadership in the locker room.

If we do have AB, Bryant, JuJu, Rogers, Hunter and anyone else at WR along with Ben and Bell to start the season, I can not freaking wait for the first game. There is no reason we shouldn't put up 40 on the Clowns in game 1.

There shouldn't be many unexpected cuts this year. It's usually harder to find 53 guys worth making the team rather than deciding who to cut.

On offense, I think the toughest will be at receiver. They should keep six, meaning the final spot should come down to DHB, Hunter, or Ayers.

There's always a battle for one of the final linebacker spots and it should come down to who plays best on special teams. Too early to say. Same with cornerback, where they have a ton of players vying for just a few spots. I'd love Golson to get healthy and back in the mix, but if he can't get back on the field he'll probably be the biggest "name" cut.

Shop Coates now for a trade! I agree, he's on the way out, but some team might offer a 5th or 6th round pick for him.

If we cut him, we won't get a draft pick.

Hey Litos,

Coates is PUP eligible. He also has an injury that isn't season ending. Putting him on the PUP frees up the IR eligible to return this season for a player that may need it. Pup just sits him for 6 weeks with no penalty, plus we then have another 5 to activate him and don't have to have him game active for 3 weeks once he's practicing. It's the better option here.

Though honestly, with him still working the sidelines in camp, it looks like he wants to come back soon.

I agree it doesn't look good for Golson. I'm on the boat of shopping Sammie and get what we can get, keeping in mind the PUP can be an assistant in that regards.

ONE other player may be Big Dan McCullers. He may be odd man out. Adams at LB may be out also.

WAIT............Did they bring Archer back to fill in for the missing Bell????? Well one thing for sure, when the BELL rings, Archer is gone.....

Archer and Coates. Not sure this team needs either taking a spot up from others that could make a play here and there.

People who were on the team last year that might not make it this year ?

Toussaint is 50/50, depends on Davis's performance on special teams. He is a return guy and if he's any good..could be Fitz's folly

Big Dan is almost a fur shur gonner. Not only Hargrove but Mazey and Hooks could possibly unseat him

Cody Hamilton IMO is toast too, way too much talent @ wr for him to stick

It's gonna be fun watchin' Keion Allen battle Moats for the #5 slot. I would rather Allen beat him outright, Moats just never impressed me all that much.

Golson better get the lead out, Hilton is leading a pack of youngins that want his spot bad.

There maybe more but I can't see them right now.

Archer ?? Justin will need to pay for more bandwidth if that guy is back...lol....... no way !

Walton ability to play NT makes Big Dan a luxury run only player for short yardage situations.

Assuming all three players make it healthy to the 3rd pre-season game, and the depth chart remains the same I hope we can trade them before cutting them.

McCullers is less than 50/50. So is Golson.

Coates is on the PUP, but I'd still rather trade him. The guy is not durable enough, and has un-reliable hands.

Agree with you on Hamilton, Moats and Golson can be gone as our younger talent is the future. Moats may be kept due to his veterainism. ARCHER is only here till the BELL rings.

I just don't see them cutting Coates. Trading him makes much more sense to at least get something in return. If they cut him, he would have a contract with a new team, most likely Baltimore or Cincinnati, in less than 24 hours. I get it that he has drawn the ire of Steeler Nation but in my opinion it would be a bad mistake to give up on him....not making excuses but an injury to your hand/fingers is going to have an impact on your game. Dude is 24 years old and had a 139 yard, two td game and I think he can be a much better 4/5 option than DHB. Just my opinion.

ADD in something fishey is going on with Martavious Bryant and maybe we end up needing him???? I'm all for getting something out of him rather than just cut him. I'm with the STEELERS on the wait and see, thus the PUP listing.

I think that was the 'just in case' when they signed Justin Hunter. Ben has repeatedly demonstrated for a tall WR and to replace a 6'-4" with another 6'-4" makes sense, even if the talent level isn't quite level. The trend across the league has been for over 6'ers lately and other than the 3 ( Ayers, Brown, Rodgers ) the Steelers are no different. IMO Coates will find a home if he doesn't settle here but it would be nice to market him and get something...even a late rounder. Bryant is a different story. He will play or not play, there will be no trade value to him....the Rog has spoken.

I'm sorry but I think I see 'dumbass' scrawled across Bryants forehead when the light hits it just right.
