I used to religiously start this thread AFTER our victories as there are always opposing takes. Even in victory there are always things to be improved upon, over-emphasis, under-emphasis, detractors, haters, & homers. It makes for great debate, & iron sharpens iron.

Our first draft night was exciting as hell, yet not was not without cost....There are many, many opinions, so this is the spot to lay it down.

I'm gonna do one for each day of the draft here as well. What do you think of day 1 ?

The Colbert/Tomlin apologists have the upper-hand IMO on round 1. The Colbert/Tomlin Critics I'm sure are locked & loaded.....

Let er rip..............

I think the Steelers shot their load on BUUUSHH!

Let me see what happens tonight. If we can still get players at #66 and #84 that I was targeting at #52 and #66, I’ll feel better about the Bush trade. My concern is that many of them go off the board between #52 and #65.

didn't realize you were paid to select players for the Steelers. seems to be a lot of yinz on this board :waving:

To me the only real comparison is what was left on the board at 20. The Steelers got a guy graded to be an instant starter. Who on the board was an instant starter grade. And frankly, I don't know. I know Greedy Williams was listed as that. Byron Murphy?? Sweat fell, but he is a true defensive end it would take time to convert him into more than a situational player. They paid a lot, I'm happy with what they got.

To be fair they wouldn't exist without we. And "we" have invested a lot of time and money into them. So if the worse 'we" do is refer to them like thy are ours?

sobeit

Besides if they are all colbert's kids, we can claim them as our siblings.

I'm with you on that. I just chuckle at the so called Madden GM's who think who they mocked or want have any say on the matter.

Too much mid-tier talent to worry...

Did you review your super duper scouting chart to reach that conclusion?

Same here, getting a good laugh.

I swear some of yinz are the type to have a full course meal handed out to you, but would get upset that they left the cucumbers out of your salad.

I agree, take a look at what was remaining at 20 One of the last posts I made prior to the draft was the hope that the team would identify an impact player and go get him or wait until 20, evaluate the talent pool and then trade down slightly to obtain another 2nd or 3rd because of the depth.
I had 5 guys in mind that I would love to have be our 1st round pick Devin White, Josh Allen, Devin Bush, TJ Hockenson and Brian Burns. All of these guys would have required moving up to obtain. I didn't think the Steelers would move 10 spots quite honestly because of past tendencies, so I kind of jumped off the couch when Denver traded the pick. I am glad how they used a 3rd in next years draft. We have an early pick in each remaining round except rd 4 and I hope if they see someone else they like, they use all those 6th and 7th round picks to move up slightly in the mid rounds to obtain them.
13 Dline players went in the 1st round. There are lots of good players left in the WR, CB, TE, OLB pool. We will land at least 2 more decent contributors to the team in this draft. Go Steelers

To me, the three safest players in this draft were Q. Williams, TJ Hockenson, and Devin Bush.
Not necessarily in any particular order.
They were all going to get selected in the top 10.
If you wanted one, and you were not in the top 10, you were going to have to pay.
We paid a reasonable price, utilizing the extra picks we had, and went up and got one of these players.
Unless Bush is a bust on the level of Jamarcus Russell, and/or suffers a career ending injury, there's no way I wouldn't make this trade/pick again after seeing how the draft played out.
After a handful of top end talent, that includes Bush, you have the next tier of players that are all about the same level, that stretches the next two rounds.

TOTAL win for us.
This is evident about the meltdowns that are occurring on Bronco sites all over the internet as we speak.
We didn't lose this trade in the least.

NOBODY, can say this trade/selection was good. too early to tell
SOMEBODY can say this trade was bad because of what was given up. that can be said now and be correct, but can turn out to be wrong in time

i dont mind the player, i mind all that was given up to get him. this team has lots of holes that needed to be filled

lets see if my mind can be changed after tonights selections.............
