Quarterbacks (3) – Ben Roethlisberger, Landry Jones, Joshua Dobbs
It is what it is, Landry is short term capable, Hobbs is green around the edges but might be short term capable. But most teams who lose their franchise do not have a attractive option if they go down long term. Some do but it isn't the Steelers.
Running Backs (3) – Le’Veon Bell,James Conner,Watson
Bell signed his contract and fans have to set aside their irritation with him, for now. He is the best overall back in the NFL. Lot has been said on how they should use him this year. But see you use him however is best for the team, because the team wants a ring, we as fans want a ring. That is the ultimate goal, and the team should play him however it feels will help them achieve that goal. You can always give him a tag that gives the team a pair of draft picks provided he is signed elsewhere. Every player is expendable. I mean **** he can still get signed to a long term contract, it is possible. We'll see. Conner and Watson seem to have similar skill sets. Conner is the more elusive runner if I had to label him. And Watson looks to have better hands. But both have a physical game to them. Which should help the team in goal line and short yardage situations, provided Tomlin isn't running Bell's wheels off. Which is always a possibility moving forward obviously.
Fullbacks (1) – Roosevelt Nix
Sort of quiet preseason, but still looks like a solid option when the team wants to utilize him.
Wide Receivers (6) – Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Eli Rogers, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Hunter,Darrius Heyward-Bey
I am hoping Bryant can shake off that rust sooner than later, But I think Hunter can help ease the situation if need be.Each receiver brings a unique skill set to the team. Which will help cause match-up problems provided they stay healthy. Little better to handle a short term injury IMO this year, but that means jack squat if option A or B goes down long term. Ol special teamer, but not so special catching the ball speedster Bey still managed to find himself on the roster in a crowded camp competition situation. He reminds me when Will Blackmail hovered on the roster year in and year out providing little. IF Bey truly did work on his speed in the off season he should still be a attractive option on special teams in coverage. Shows you just how much Coates regressed after he flashed big play capable. I wish him and his bent finger well, but of course not against the Steelers. I still find it odd he didn't get that fractured finger fixed last year. I tell you there was times late last year, I loaned him my finger. Good riddance.
Tight Ends (3) – Jesse James,Vance MacDonald,Xavier Grimble
The pecking order with this listing isn't necessarily how it shakes out on the field. But maybe with ol MacDonald still getting acclimated to his new farm, perhaps Jesse James will get the initial start. Grimble report-ably improved in the offseason enough to let blocking TE David Johnson go. The thinking by fans is Vance can make up for any skill set David brought to the table, and perhaps be a upgrade in the process.
Offensive Linemen (9) – Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, Ramon Foster, Marcus Gilbert, Alejandro Villanueva, B.J. Finney, Chris Hubbard, Jerald Hawkins,Matt Feiler
Feiler is ol school knock you on your *** type of tackle guard capable player. I got a Feiler that watching him and a few of these bruising backs on the roster would bring back Bus memories if forced into play. But a slew of injuries would probably need to happen for that to take place. Besides he needs some pass protection guidance from one of the best O-line coaches before we anoint him anything more than depth for now. Nice talents group that can help Ben stand straight up until he rides off into the sunset. Hopefully not this year or next on that happening.

Still hoping for that Tuitt extension. Be nice to see that happen by friday. Little surprised shade tree is still around, but he does have his uses. Alualu brings the Steelers the best depth at the position that they have had in a long time.They say you win in the trenches, and both O and D trenches are looking solid if not spectacular.
Inside Linebackers (5) – Ryan Shazier, Vince Williams, Tyler Matakevich, L.J. Fort,Steven Johnson
A lot of capable run stuffers, but beyond Shazier not much is attractive as far as coverage capable. Ryan please stay healthy. Steven is a late special teams addition. Who has YoYo'd his way off and on the roster. He should perhaps keep his bags packed.
Outside Linebackers (5) – Bud Dupree, James Harrison, T.J. Watt, Anthony Chickillo, Arthur Moats
Dupree is a speedy muscled up pass rusher ready to make his mark. TJ will be paying dividends in coverage and against the run, until his sack ability gets fine tuned. Deebo is the man the myth the father time eluding monster. And I like it like that. Chickillo has made some strides but have to see him against a little better talent to see just how much. Moats shouldn't be crossed, but shouldn't be counted on long term. A group that will be counted on to be better than last years version. But hey Uncle Jarvis is gone, so that immediately upgrades this group. He was just injury waived by Steeler West, perhaps Bell can help him fill out a Dairy Queen application. He is going to need a job somewhere.
Cornerbacks (6) – Artie Burns,Joe Haden, Coty Sensabaugh,, William Gay,Mike Hilton, Brian Allen
Kudos Allen for trying to reverse that late pick at the position failure. Jury is still out but a nice start. Haden upgrades the position, regardless if he returns to pro bowl form. Sensabaugh should help but not be counted on to start long term. But will provide solid depth. Curious to see ho much Hilton will play and how much Gay won't. A five dollar question without a value meal answer.
Safeties (4) – Mike Mitchell, Sean Davis, Robert Golden, JJ Wilcox
So the secondary loses it's **** but gains a Cox. Whew ladies I am looking at this as a performance upgrade. wink wink. Golden hopefully never sees the field, but I guess Wilcox will be eased in. And how healthy is Mitchell leading up to the Cleveland game? Another 5 dollar question without a happy meal answer.
