Yeah not so shocking. Have to pop pain killers to play a brutal sport

in other breaking news:

Supe has to drink to tolerate ark steel's presence.

more after the break...

With the spike of attention on opioid dangers, I wonder if the NFL will start taking heat for his. Pain pills are destroying lives in mass out there.

And those who don't die from those pills are often resorting to heroin and dying from OD-ing that ****. If a person OD's from H, but got into H due
to starting with pain pills, those #'s should showcase that as well.

Death from both are skyrocketing. It's a full blown epidemic. If the NFL is handing out pain pills like candy, they will take heat for it, and if ham and egger players are ending up hurt from them, there will be more and more law suits.

The NFL has proven, over and over, that it does not give one **** until something threatens their bank accounts.Other than that, a **** they do not give.

You're onto something PoP---For once I like your football post. Please continue. The NFL brand is tarnishing at a fast rate each season it seems. The mishandling of concussions, pain killers, teams cheating etc. What an absolute mess these past few seasons. Gotta love the Steelers doing their best to avoid league drama. James Harrison even showing that he is not juicing yet the league screws him over. **** the NFL. Go Steelers!

I believe in today's NFL, if a player is to take prescription pain medication, they have to have a script written from their own personal doctor. Because of all the regulations and possible lawsuits, no NFL teams doctor or group of doctors will willingly dish em out in the manner they used to. This way, it releases them of any liability. However, I remember reading from older players how they pretty much would have a buffet table full of different pain meds available and ready for each and any player.

They will do what they have to in order to cover their *** from liability. But we all know they don't actually care about what happens to players, other than keeping them able to play. I am shocked more players haven't had to go into rehab, or.....we just don't know about them. I remember when Favre was hooked and needed treatment. That never gets brought up.

You know, I've always wondered that myself. You don't really hear too much about any players going into drug rehab. Of course, like you said, the NFL would never report on it.

Anybody remember a thing called personal responsibility. These guys all had the option to not take the pills. They chose to take the pills so they could play and make more money.

Accountability, to the party who needs to be held accountable. If a player isn't smart enough to know he is the ACCOUNTABLE one when things go into his mouth, then he needs to be sterilized as we need NO more like him. MONEY is the driving factor on BOTH sides of this coin.

And in other news boxing and MMA are bad for your brain.

And there are almost as many concussion in high school soccer, but football gets the bad rap. In case your wondering the #1 injury sport in high school is....drum roll please....cheerleading.

Having said that, the NFL needs to come out with a softer surface helmet to take something off the blow, with better engineering inside the helmet to prevent concussions.

Cheerleading is crazy. When I was in high school the coaches expected the cheer team to constantly perform backflips and some other worldly ninja ****. Football is a brutal sport but these guys know what they are getting into

Dang,....... I wanted to ask but am choosing not to............ LOL

Football needs to be more defined in head hunting hits. Hockey has a no head policy and it works very well. To bad NFL can't adopt something to this nature. And for the record, there is BETTER helmets out there yet they choose not to use them, has to do with sponsor money.

Yeah Riddell or however you spell that company.

Lol. If you asked I couldn't answer too much. My cousin was on the cheer squad my junior and senior year. She was exhausted. A few drops too. Competitive cheer is no joke lol

It's well known that players use pain meds to play. How else do you see players like Bettis take a huge hit to his knee, he goes into the locker room and can barely walk and then comes running put ready to play.... pain shots my man. Then pain meds for when the shots wear off. It's not as common now but up until the 05 team they still did it.
