No stone unturned. Steelers workout Rugby star

The only issue i have with cross sport stars is his salary is probably going to be high for an unproven guy with miles already on his tread... Rugby guys like that are making in the two milllion range right?
 
Maybe they can show the rest of the team HOW TO ******* TACKLE! These dudes are doing it with no pads. Bring them in for tackling instructions for our guys.

Nowhere near.

Dan Carter is the best paid rugby player and will make £1.3. Most of these people are just guys. Sam Burgess who is a bona fide star is getting £500,000. Big money in rugby but about $750k - a bit more than practice squad guys.

Soccer is where the money is. Cristiano Ronaldo is on £33.8M/year.

I think you over estimate the wages to be on the practice squad it is more like 100k a year if you are on there the whole season.

Jarryd Hayne the former rugby league star had an offer on the table to stay in rugby league for $4 million and turned it down. Now he's on the 9ers PS making 100k

Even before he made the switch he was making 1 million Aussie dollars per season.

But we're talking about stars. The top 5% will be in that bracket but most of them won't. You're right in that pactice squad money isn't likely to tempt many stars away from rugby but a very reasonable NFL contract (even vet minimum) will be more than most normal guys will be making and then some.
 
If he can't return kicks, pass.

Rugby is a whole lot closer to football than soccer is.
 
Before you get overly impressed with the tackling, realize it's rugby and those guys aren't wearing helmets and are running and tackling accordingly.

Give them an NFL back running full tilt with shoulders and knees no more than 4 feet off the ground and they might be completely helpless.

It is simply a case of technique whether one is wearing pads or not is fairly irrelevant. You can either tackle or you can't
 
The poor tackling you see in the league, and in college too, comes from an overemphasis of blowing guys up rather than bringing them down, plus guys are being coached to strip the ball. Stripping the ball is great if you can knock it loose, but when you don't, sometimes the guy ends up 40 yards down field.
