NFL eliminates 62 player restriction on game days

So- what does this do the salary cap? Are they able to include members of the practice squad as part of the 62 man roster?

62 was a travel number. You can now travel with as many as you want. Game rules still apply so out of the 53 man roster you still can only have 48 active on game day.

This does not affect the salary cap at all. Active rostered players do.

Yeah they still need to expand tge practice squad for the playoffs

And they need to make it eligible to sign any non protected player off playoff eliminated teams to your practice squad...

I don’t really care about the regular season, but for ***** sake, protect the playoffs....

not sure how this makes the NFL any more money. Hell, it actually drives team costs up for taking more players. Room, board, travel costs, etc. There is no real benefit from having IR or PS guys travel with the team other than being with their guys.

But it savesctge league money from potential delays... they are probably going to get more strict with close contact now.....

The limit was 62. The active Roster is 53 and the gameday roster is 48 (I think). I suppose they could activate a PS player on game day if they got a slew of failed tests. To get from 48th guy on game day to the 63rd guy (one more than the 62) is a lot of bad tests in one day. Highly unlikely and NFL would probably delay that game anyway.

I was thinking along the lines of availability which could help a Covid ravished team. Which could help prevent a decline in viewers.

I could be off base but that was my initial thought process.

all good brother. I am just thinking they have Friday test results that night so the final travel adjustments are made Sunday. You take 62 or 100..to get to the 63rd player that is 10 past your 53 active which is higher than the game day roster. That is a lot of bad tests to get on Saturday night before a game Sunday. and if it is the Ravens, they will get a reprieve to stretch their vags..er...practice before the game gets played.
