As we go into week six, it looks like we can prognosticate the next coaching vacancy since Quinn’s firing may start the process of other teams going all in for the Beinemy sweepstakes.

Marrone is probably out of Jax at the end of the year at the latest. But Patricia, Lynn and definitely Gase are the sure bets. TBO, I find incredible that Gase is still employed. It’s fascinating that Shanahan and even Zimmer are rumored their seat is warm. Zimmer i seriously doubt will be let go even if they finished under .500.

Any others the board is hearing about?

Lynn is probably going to get saved based on having a promising rookie QB. Not saying I agree with that, but they have some real promise with him.

1. Gase - Never should've been hired. The sooner they move on the better for that franchise.
2. Patricia - I'm surprised he's lasted this long.
3. Marrone - The team is going nowhere and this guy isn't going to a lead a long-time winner.
4. Fangio - I don't know if they'd make a move this soon, but I think this was a bad hire from the start. The Broncos armed themselves with a young QB and a ton of weapons on offense and Fangio is the coach. Not the guy I want developing my dynamic group of playmakers.

If you read this board long enough, SBWCMVLT is or should be on the "HOT" seat nearly every play.............

In all seriousness Coach Tomlin is definitely showing signs of pedigree positive testing. Some of his notorious gaffs seem to be softened and planned out when in the kitchen and for better. His job is safe for a long time or so I think the popcorn is near ready and the butter is pointing up. Current top 5 coach in the NFL and hard to argue with that.

As for other coaches on or near the hot seat........ i think you nailed the greater share but I'm with you on Gase, how does that guy have a job ?

Read this and laughed. Read it again and laughed even harder. :beers:

to the OP, that is a pretty good list. I suspect owners are having some internal discussions at this stage on them teams.

And we've seen some horrible clock management gaffes against us this year. How about getting tackled at the end of the half w/o a TO and the clock runs out before you can kick a FG? It's been over a decade since I've seen that in Pit. I think that was the end of Game FG we lost to CLE with coach cowher, but the refs didn't properly set the clock on that play.

Yep. Justin Herbert looks like the real deal. A possible franchise QB. And speaking of franchise QB's, when was the last coach with a franchise QB to be fired? Those coaches either win champions or make the playoffs often.

Wait.....so you are talking about a group that includes Tomlin. Isn’t that against your thought process?

what has Matt Patricia done to keep his job.

what has Matt Patricia done to keep his job.

Well, he’s broken up a roster that had playoff experience when he was hired, and now says the roster he broke up had less talent......yet his roster hasn’t sniffed the W/L record of the one he broke up.

He will be back in NE with Belicheat regardless.

Gase is definitely out. Maybe the only reason he hasn't been fired yet is because he convinced people that Bell was the bad guy disrupting the team. If Bell goes off in KC, that's the last nail for Gase, not just for this job but possibly for his next. How many guys does he have to mismanage?

I think Fangio will get another year. So many injuries this year. Lost their QB, along with best WR and best defensive player. Unless the wheels fall off and they finish with only like 4 wins, I think he gets another year. Drew Lock is coming back and if he looks good the rest of the year, that's a step forward for the franchise.

Marrone could get another year. They got rid of Ramsey and now Fournette. That's a vote of confidence for the coach. The Jags have a young team, They are losing but they're competitive.

Lynn should be safe so long as Herbert continues to look good. Their record is bad but they have had a chance to win most games.

Zimmer could get fired by Minn. He's been there awhile now and they are taking a step back this year.

Could Jerry Jones firs Mike McCarthy after 1 year? If Dak didn't get injured then the answer may have been Yes. With Dak injured, McCarthy could get a pass on the season. Also, they can make the playoff with only 7 or 8 wins the way that division is going.

One might be surprised how many coaches with franchise QBs don't win as many play off games as one would expect. Elway comes to mind but Dan Marino also comes to mind. Maybe im' delirious as it's been a long day.

Herbert could be a franchise QB if he keeps proceeding the way he is. I know to give it a season or so but he looks pretty good if you ask me.

Great post but he way Tape.

Where did I mention Tomlin by name? I was talking about Lynn and made a point that coaches with Franchise QB's tend to win many games, usually a Super Bowl and don't get fired.

On Gase he's 99% likely to be fired. He won't be the head coach for 2021. The dumbest thing the Jets could do is fire him now. Lock up that 1st overall pick, then fire him at the end of the season. Lots of top head coaching prospects would love to work with Lawerence at quarterback.

In college I felt Darnold turned the ball over way too many times, and wasn't that good of a passer. More of a tease. I'd part ways with him as he just doesn't make others around him better. He other argument is the talent around him sucks, but if you got Lawerence and the 1st overall pick, it's an easy decision.

was McCarthy fired in green bay or just not resigned?

Ok so you are agreeing that Tomlin is in that group. Has a franchise QB, has won many games, won SB, and hasn’t been fired. Just making sure before you scream bad coaching or the other numerous agendas you drive.

Did someone say Tomlin on the chopping block?? Please! I want to watch the Steelers again. We won't win anything with him here. Sorry but true. When Ben goes and we dont go after a top QB like Trevor Lawrence well be mediocre for years.

Good point, they fired him. Could have been an Aaron Rodgers thing. McCarthy was 125-77-2 during his 13 years at Green Bay, and departed with a super bowl ring over us.

Nah, if I wanted grind on Tomlin in this thread, I'd mention his 3-6 in his last nine playoff game and went back to back seasons which no the playoff appearances in 2018 and 2019. 2018 was an epic collapse. Has any coach with a franchise QB done worse that that? ( 3-6 in his last nine playoffs game )? Help me out Ike, since your fixated on Mikey you might know the answer.

Rodgers who some tout better than Ben has only won one SB victory if you ask Packer fans they wouldn't be too happy. Bills lost all of their SBs with Kelly and Dan Marino never won a SB so yeah there has been worse.

Rodgers might have zero super bowl wins if Mendenhall didn't get stripped of the football. Like Ben, he's hall of fame bound.

Well there you go you are supporting my argument that there has been worse coaches.

Green Bay had some poor teams, the Steelers always have a talented roster. My question is this. Tomlin with a franchise QB is 3-6 in his last nine playoffs game. Is there another coach with a franchise hall of fame bound QB that has done worse in his last 9 playoff games?

I don't think McCarthy is a great coach, but to be clear his playoff record is better than Tomlin's at 10-8. Of course there have been worse coaches than Tomlin, my problem is he underachieves relative to his talent.
