Here’s a new twist that has never been done before, in part because the draft has never been held in a football stadium. “We’ll have sections all over the stadium for all 32 teams, and it’ll be like a competition between all the teams and their fans,” Brandt said.

The competition will be rigged, because it will essentially be a home game for Cowboys fans. But the fans of the 32 teams surely will have one thing on which that can all agree: Every time the Commissioner walks to the podium, they’ll be speaking with one, unified voice.

Not overly clear what they will be doing here, can anyone spin it clearer ?

Seems kind of simple unless I'm missing something. Steelers fans will be seated with Steelers fans, Cowboys fans with Cowboys fans, etc. Gives the TV cameras one spot to go to in order to see what the immediate reaction of the fans is to the pick selected by their team. As far as the competition ... maybe the loudest fan selection wins?

Just a rah rah sectioned off cheering section?

weird....

I thought maybe they were guessing team picks....

voting on who it would be before the selection, that would be interesting.....

What do they win? I think the TVization of the draft has totally bonkered it's effect that it use to have. I use to watch it when it was a shorter affair but now it's so spread out its hard to catch completely. I read the most right here about who we actually picked and their ability / grade. Thank YOU to all who contribute in this manor.

I like your idea. But, it's the NFL, so they will go for the immediate, don't have to work to hard on it, cheesy thing that they can show on tv and point at to say "See, people ARE still interested in and love our product".
Again, I could be wrong.

I wonder where they would put the war rooms? In the boxes? In the subterranean field boxes? It would kind of be cool if it was the underground boxes, someone could sprint out of the box holding the ticket, running across the field, to get the pick in! That would make for quite a spectacle, as some overweight coach/scout would do their best waddle to get to the podium!

Someone falls, instant meme...

More like a 50 yard red carpet for the card runners to sprint down the middle to the podium....in between all the club’s FO phone sections. Maybe have Gorsack timing them...I can see Jerrah planning that for event impact.

Depends. Lots of displaced Yinzers in Dallas since Texas knows how to create jobs and Pennsylvania doesn't.

I miss the draft in NYC. I also don't care if everything is bigger in Texas, Dallas was a pretty lousy Super Bowl host.

Before Goodell changed it to Thursday nights, Friday nights for the money(Saturday's & Sunday's) my buddies and I would get together and play cards all day Saturday and watch the draft. Some fun times. We did for years. Pissed me off when he changed it. Anymore I don't even get hyped up for the draft. The last 8 or so years my love for the game has just faded. I love my Steelers...just not the game.It is what it is I guess. Now I'm just waiting to see how the "leading with the helmet" rule affect's the game. Why can't the NFL just get the players to sign some sort of waiver where the players acknowledge the risks of the game and play at their own risk.....

He did kill the draft. They moved it back a week and the shift to Thursday night was about it for me. I still watch it, but just don't invest the same amount of time like I used to when I dedicated all day Saturday to watch. That was a blast!

I agree with this. I'm a huge Steelers fan, but I live here in Texas about 2 n half hour away from Dallas and let me tell you I've run into alot of steeler fans that have lives here for a long time, I'm excited I think I'm gonna go show some spirit myself

They should time the guys running a 40 yard dash to the podium with the draft card. Our guy would win obviously so it'd be a race for 2nd.

Ask cpollock about her experience there!!!

I quit watchin' the actual draft selections years ago...too boring. At the end of each day there are plenty of very detailed articles about the teams picks. Life is too short to glue myself to a TV screen all day for one 30 second shot of a player your team selected......especially if they miss it altogether for a commercial, like they have done many times in the past. I had to wait for the ticker to tell me who we picked.
