Jordan DeFigio, @fidgenewton SteelerNation.com   The*Pittsburgh Steelers have officially parted ways with offensive coordinator, Randy Fichtner. I guess that’s former offensive coordinator now.*Much to the delight of all of Pittsburgh. Fichtner is gone. The offensive coordinator position left vacant. And plenty of opinions on who should fill it remain. But I don’t think it should […]

I continue to disagree with the mindset that Canada would be in any way a continuation of the current offense...

Ive posted elsewhere how little hiring from within has carried over from one oc to another... Canada was here one season and they barely used any of the stuff he was known for in college... he should be the top candidate... it’s telling that another team is already interested in him as a coordinator... one that just fired an ex Steelers OC for using a dated offense...

The grass is greener mentality got us ray sherman and kevin Gilbride, two if the worse fits of all time at OC... shiny trendy names aren’t the answer... innovation and intelligent gameplanning are very important, but so is vision and conviction

Canada doesn’t last long in coaching roles... he either gets a better offer elsewhere or gets fired for telling off gead coaches

The LSU ending was worse... but like with his one season at Pitt, when given full control, he can just obliterate good defenses through strategic formation and playcalling...

I don't care if it is internal or external the best man for the job is fine by me. If Canada has the best resume from all available sure. Not sure he does.... That would be the only reason I didn't hire him. From glancing around there is some ex coaches and positional coaches with attractive backgrounds. I prefer high positional coaches that have attractive NFL experience.

Yeah i agree that it should be best man for the job... i just think people are writing Canada off cause he was on the staff...

If when haley left Munch had been named coordinator, I don’t think the offense would look anything like it does now... and He and Randy were on the same staff for a bit...
