Just read on DK's site (can we link to that?) that Steve Nelson was sent for an MRI on his knee today. We're hemorrhaging defensive starters. smh .

I think it is just precautionary. The guy was able to finish the game.

Yeah I'd like to think that should not be torn. probably sprained MCL. My man Sutton should get an opportunity.

Think he will miss the game?

You don't get an MRI on your knee if something isn't hurting in there. This will be something for us to keep our eye on. We will be needing him v Buffalo.

Sometimes its because there is swelling and they want to be sure. Steelers have done it this year and sometimes it is nothing.

If he goes out for a stretch we should be able to cover it, but I certainly toss a minimum contract at eli apple or Tramaine Johnson to see if they want a playoff paycheck as an insurance option...

Johnson should be good behind our front seven... like he was with the rans before the Jets waived all that money at him to get him to play on a team with no pass rush at all lol

Sutton would not be the next man up, it would be Justin Layne. He's the one that stepped in when Haden got hurt against jax

Thought Layne stepped in when they went to the Dime. That alignment kicked Sutton to the inside and Layne took over on the outside. In other formations, Sutton manned the outside. I could be wrong, but I believe I read it.

That would he my assumption. Teams do not like making two switches. So when Layne needs to come in they put him at his natural position and Sutton at his. Outside is much more defined. But all things equal its Sutton if Nelson cannot go.

I hope. Nelson is precautionary and they don't push him into further injury. If he needs time, give it to him.

wow eli apple, what a bust!. To think I wanted that kid with our late 1st and he was off the board at 1.10, he had the size, speed and played good against the run, his main weakness was that he was a bit raw but was expexted to become a surefire starter. Guess we dodged that bullet to get shot with Artic Burns.

Maybe a new enviroment would make wonders for him? but not without training camp, so right now I rather not pick him up

agree, if he has to rest better be now than when the team has to face pass happy teams like the bills

Sure, but that goes to my point that something was hurting in his knee. He may have particles or a very small tear. Some of these things can be cleaned up with a scope and a short down period. Some you can play through. We will keep our eye on it. He's been great for us opposite Haden.
