You cannot fix opinionated rules with more opinionated rules. PI, roughing the passer, holding have absolutely no defining characteristics from one ref to another. They don’t have the same calls one player to another. If the XFL is watching they will fix this before they play a single down. Too many ticky tacky calls in the nfl anymore. I used to get up Sunday, watch all the nfl pregames I could, crack a beer at kickoff and finish my last one during Sunday night football. Yesterday I missed our first half and shut the tv off after that bull **** roughing the passer call. I knew right then the NFL had already decided.

I went hunting yesterday. Almost had my buck - been working that small bachelor group for three days - when a side-by-side of loud idiots came by and scared them over the hill. They were probably Bengals fans. Jerks.

OK, so what were you talking about on Sundays?

Agree 100%. All the flags take away the from the flow of the game and absolutely dictate outcomes. The fact that the hit on Lamar's waste/thighs was immediately flagged yet it took the refs minutes of Mason laying unconscious on the ground to eventually throw a "pity flag" tells you all you need to know about the quality of the officials in the NFL.

There were a half dozen horrible calls just last game. The announcers and former head of officiating couldn't even agree with the refs on the field on most of them. And bad calls were for both teams. Phantom PI calls, phantom holding calls (offensive and defensive), Bush's very questionable interception (ground clearly helped him catch it), horrible roughing the passer call, Watt's neutral zone infraction (when he didn't even enter the neutral zone). It's laughable if it didn't detract from the quality of games so much. It makes watching the game so anticlimactic that it's very hard to become emotionally invested in a game anymore.

My son and I were talking about it yesterday. I said video replay has absolutely ruined the game. Now, everyone can see all 24 frames per second for standard broadcast tv. You can find 3 frames that make some point or appear to defy the rules but we forget that is 1/10th of a second. But, there it is, so the NFL feels compelled to write rules to cover what you see in 1/10th or less of a second. Ridiculous. Worse, does anyone else remember the debate over replay in the first place? It was going to get rid of bad calls. We still have bad calls and the rules have gotten so damned muddled that nobody, not even the umps on the field, seem to understand them.

I couldn't agree more with you. However, until fans stop going to games and buying NFL merchandise, nothing is going to change. Nothing at all.

The suck grows bigger every year. All of the stuff above plus whatever bs the pats****** have going on the last 19 years. They're impervious to all of it.

It's just a big pile of nonsense.
