"Obviously we used to feature Calvin and everybody kind of got theirs after that. It's going to be tougher for defenses in a certain way that they don't know who we're going to. There's no guy to key in on. We're probably just going to spread the ball around a bunch, and a bunch of guys will get a ton of catches and we'll be all right."

in other words:
"we have no major offensive weapon"

What would he say. Don't bother coming to the game we will suck. And in a way he is right. Sometimes when the big dog is gone the little dogs pick up the scraps and the team functions better. If everyone has a mentality of step up and does instead of waiting on Calvin Johnson, they will be better.

Not only that, but there is a real truth to over-targeting a star can make you easier to defend. Before Bell went down, you knew he'd get tons of catches. I think our O opened up more after force-feeding so many touches on him had to end.

The offense did well after Bell was injured only because the team had Deangelo Williams as a backup. The team would have benefitted tremendously from having a guy as versatile and talented as Bell - particularly his 3rd down blocking and receiving abilities - rather than relying on Williams.

No team gets "better" losing one of the best players in the league.

Kansas City had J.Charles go down and If I remember correctly, their offense got better without him. It's [possible but NOT the normal.
