What took Tomlin so long? Has Gilbert played his last down as a Steeler?

Resigning Gilbert would be a huge mistake.

Agreed. I'm for trading him if possible. A trade would give us a draft pick, plus cap relief. Gilbert for a draft pick? Yep, I'd take it.

I've seen enough to know Matt Feiler is decent enough to win with. There is a chance Feiler can improve a bit, as he is a relatively new starter.

Coach, you know more than that. There is no trade here. They will cut him, save the money. No one Pays for what they get for free.

You can get a 7th. If he's cut, perhaps a team with a low priority in the waivers would offer a conditional 7th round pick pending he makes the team. That happens all of the time.

If they actually think they will cut him I can bet the TEAM throws out feelers as to a trade, before the cut. If someone would happen to bite, then you take it hands down.

Salute the nation

I highly doubt that. Maybe a 7th. But I really dont think so. When have the Steelers ever made a trade like that unloading their garbage. More likely like this. They bring him to camp and he competes for a spot.

When you cut a player you better have a solid replacement.

Exactly and Feiler is NOT that guy...

Not to mention you are opening up another hole with a team with deficiencies at FS,CB,WR, and backup RB. And some would argue OLBer....

I'm STILL not satisfied at ILB. IMO, ILB is still the biggest need on our defense. The lose of Shazier has set the defense back for a bit - I have faith that they'll get someone inside to fix this...
