He alleges that the incident began when he was returning to the facility after having done a favor for a member of the organization, returning his vehicle after taking it to be serviced. Parker claims that he saw Gilbert in the parking lot, whom he is familiar with, and “voiced a jesting greeting”.

He alleges that Gilbert did not take this kindly, which ultimately resulted in the Steelers lineman sending him a number of threatening texts, and ultimately a request to settle the matter face-to-face, which was obliged.

Parker then claims that Gilbert arrived at his house, making similar comments to those made in the texts and phone exchanges that preceded, whereupon he shoved the 54-year-old several times before putting him in a bear hug and slamming him to the ground, with the 330-pounder landing on top of him.

The plaintiff, in addition to suffering a fracture in his right fibula that required multiple surgeries to attend, suffered an assortment of ailments ranging from bruises to ligament tears, in addition to the aggravation of a previous back injury.

I dunno I might smell some bullshit with this one.

Really? So why would you agree to Gilberts offer of settling it man to man and if all this is true doesn't Gilbert have better things to do then fight a 54 yo man? Every year this team some how has DRAMA anymore it seems...or maybe it is just every team in the NFL that has it and this is nothing big.

Sounds like male ego's and bravado. Don't pick fights with oversized athletic men unless you're prepared for the possible outcome. The guy tangles with big men for a living. Better to just walk away for both parties.

Did the guy call the police? If he did not, then this is 100% a money grab.

If it's a money grab, it's tough to fake a broken fibula...

If its a shakedown fight back. If there is truth settle out of court now. He wants 35k. Give it to him and move along.

So this guy knows Gilbert well enough that they text each other?

I'm in real good shape for 56, I could bench press 305 lb until I had surgery on both hands beginning a few months ago, but even I'm not going to start **** with a pro athlete who weighs twice what I do. Of course if Gilbert actually did this then he's pretty stupid too.

I don't know any of the NFL players personally but I would wager that it would be easier and a LOT less of a list if we would list the smart ones instead of the "stupidz" ones. This whole story has fishy smell to it. If this is true it would be HARD pressed to say which of the two is the dumbest???

Salute the nation

PS If I was inocent I would take this thing ALL THE WAY. If I was guilty I would PAY NOW !!!!!!!!! NO distraction.

No but if he didn't call the police then nothing wrong was done. They could have been wrestling or something. Or, he could have just tripped over him. Could have been an accident. Who knows. But, if not crime called to the police, then no issue now with the league or anything else.

Were there witnesses? Anyone to place Gilbert physically at the man's house?

I assume there are texts since they are mentioned, but if there are no witnesses, no arrests, no police reports... it's going to be a he-said / he-said.

And it is impossible to understand how this guy didn't call the police after there was a broken arm involved. And if there were multiple surgeries, this didn't take place yesterday... Multiple surgeries take multiple days generally. And they would normally include a police report if the guy had his arm broken by someone else. That's how hospitals work...

Ya. This is Hoo...

" whom he is familiar with, and “voiced a jesting greeting”." [/B] At this point the story goes south.
"Parker then claims that Gilbert arrived at his house, making similar comments to those made in the texts and phone exchanges that preceded, whereupon he shoved the 54-year-old several times before putting him in a bear hug and slamming him to the ground, with the 330-pounder landing on top of him.

These are the words of a lawyer. Anyone who believes this embellished BS is a complete moron. Medical records submitted could be of injuries suffered anywhere.
Text messages between the two phones will detail the "conversation".
My take? This buffoon managed to get Gilberts number then started becoming a pain in the ***. Gilbert may have told him to back off and the chooch got his feelings hurt. Gilbert and this jagoff may have even been in close proximity and the tool might have gotten physical and Marcus Gilbert could have given him a shove who knows? But getting shoved by a pro athlete with a serious bank equals payday to idiots who have no life.
I dunno, this stench is almost as bad as the "concierge" hustle in Reno that cost Ben some serious cash.

If he goes public, can anyone blame Steeler fans for making his life more miserable than it already is?
