Gilbert has been our best lineman and that 30 million we gave him is looking real good. Kudos to Gilbert for putting in the work and slimming down and becoming a true professional.

Yes. One heck of a deal. I will be voting for Gilbert to make the pro bowl

A lot of credit to Munch here. He's done o good job of turning Gilbert into a solid RT.

I agree, before this season, I thought Gilbert was the weakest link on the entire team. Buy man, he has really blossomed into an outstanding right tackle. I'm very happy to have been wrong.

How about that 2011 draft?

We could possibly have two All-Pro's emerge from that class (Heyward and Gilbert)

I think many were too critical of Gilbert. He's been a solid right tackle for us and has been nothing short of outstanding this year.

Munch gets the coaching credit he deserves, Gilbert gets the player credit he deserves. VERY happy with his developement into a good player.

Salute the nation

You give up two sacks in one game (2nd game of 2014 season) and most of Steeler Nation is ready to run you out of town no matter how good the guy (Dumerville) who beat you is nor how well you play for the rest of the season...

Gilbert had a ROUGH start to last season, but as the season went on he got much better. But you're right, most wont allow them to forget that rough start...

I saw his contract as a bit high but with the possibility to become a very good one in the long run if the expectations the F.O. had on him materialized, just as it did. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (cortez allen). But Gilbert had shown value when not injured that he could be a middle of the pack RT as a young player, if developed he could become dominant, just as he is right now. Keep up the hardwork, don't get lazy Mr. Gilbert and you'll be a top player

The entire team? Sure. Really?

True, especially thinking back how fans have never been kind to the tackles.

As far as I'm concerned he didn't live up to his first contract. So I figure he's owes us a good year or 2.

Besides him starting ...yeah. I guess he didn't live up to it.

Also. Wait until he gives up a sack or two in a game...Everyone will be back to hating on him. I still think they over paid for "his life's work" at the time of his signing.

Same here. I was always critical of the guy. I think the line as a whole has been solid. Munchak is doing damn good if I say so. Gilbert, keep it up big dawg

He's paid like a top 5 RT, I'd hardly call him a bargain.
