Low Expectations

IF, IF he can stay healthy and make the cut, any contribution would be a plus.
Got to give him credit for hanging in there and staying in shape.

Of course you expect little. As nobody including the Steelers know if he can make it out of a training camp healthy.

But if he can then you wonder if he can last a season. A lot of hopes and dreams for taking up a roster spot.

But you want something out of your investment if possible. And if he can manage to stay healthy and not show a speed drop off, I would not be surprised if he makes the final 53.

So being injury free and seeing if he lost something in the process will be his deciding factor.

Obviously, staying healthy is critical to him. Another injury and I think he is gone. That said, his next step is how fast he can transpose 2yrs of side line learning to the field. He's NOT a rookie in the class room so how fast that translates to the field and if consistant enough will help lock a spot. Good luck to him but if damaged I hope we just don't keep him for nostalgic sakes.

I was counting on the kid when he was drafted. But now you snooze you lose.

His window of opportunity might have closed....unless he has one hella camp.

Not expecting much from Golson at all

It was odd that he was rostered initially last year. Other than the first month of the season last season, Golson has not cost us a roster spot. He was IRed.

Two years and only able to participate in THREE PRACTICES in that time. THREE

I, for one, hope he gets on the field. We need to get better in the slot - especially in man-to-man coverage...

You and I both hope for this. Gay is done and if not, then VERY close to being done. As little effort as it would take, the only thing to stop Golson would be a health issue. I hope for him to be healthy and able to UPGRADE an older average GAY guy. I can see Golson being the "NEW" lube of this secondary, provided he applies himself right.

Sorry for the typing mess up location.

I hope Golson is healthy. If he is... he makes the team. I remember this guy in 2014. He was electric. Anytime the ball is in the air... he thinks it is his.

Unanimous... UNANIMOUS All-American in 2014--one of only 12 college players to be honored like this in 2014. Impressive.

Other than the obvious health concerns... he was kind of drafted for a different style of defense than we are going to play in 2017. That said... if he is healthy he would be a great addition in the slot or as a dime corner. Man, that would be nice.

Really would like to see this kid do well for us this season. The injuries are no joke though. Not sure he can ever get beyond two lost seasons and earn the trust to stay on the field now.
