The “he’s not worth 40 mil” kills me.
If the goal (and standard) is to simply draft players and have them in one uniform their entire career sure pay the man for past performances…what a cool story that would be, a story of undying loyalty.
If the goal is to be relevant, win playoff games en route to a SB victory (an actual worthy standard) allocating that sort of money to an aging player for past performances is somewhere between questionable and moronic.
Just another player playing within the constraints and of the great Underachiever.
Just doesn’t make cents to pay that much for a player to be poorly deployed when said player can’t get his team over the hump of the simplest of goals…winning the first game of a potential SB run.
Again not TJ’s fault that his greatness is squandered by the ineptitude above, the situation simply doesn’t yield a winning equation
