People seem to be focusing on the defense giving up points late but there are way more positives.

I don’t care if they gave up some late drives. This defense was a lot better than last week. The Bucs have lots of weapons. They don’t have the RB, but they have 3 big play WRs and 2 TEs that are matchup problems. They have a pretty good OL too and Fitzpatrick is still on a hot streak.

it still needs to get better but we saw far fewer blown assignments. Guys actually made some plays because there was less confusion and they were able to react instead of think.

You also have to remember that much of the Bucs late game success was after Hilton left the game.

The offense was mostly great and that is with Decastro and Gilbert injured. The protection was mostly good against a team with some good pass rushers.

Ben is still not in sync with AB and his deep ball is a bit off but you saw the rust coming off. The offense should have had 34 points which is damn good when they aren’t even fully clicking yet.

The defense was mostly good vs the browns. The Chiefs was a debacle but they git pointed back in the right direct vs the Bucs. The Chiefs and Bucs may be the 2 most dangerous teams the steelers face all year and they got them early.

The main thing may be that they have finally acknowledged their own drama and seem to actually be trying to put it behind them, not just with the usual lip service.

Beat the Ravens and the steelers may be in first place, hopefully with all the bullshit behind them.

Their major problem is that Burns has lost all confidence much like Boswell but they have nothing behind him. You have to try people. Try Allen or Sutton. Burns is crying in his soup and lost his game. You need a diamond in the rough. The secondary is terrible.

Hilton going down created a huge opening for Tampa’s offense. Solid tackler, excellent when blitzing, and solid coverage skills. They were sending him a lot after the qb tonight. When he went down, the different blitzes died down too. I really, really wish that they’d stop running that ridiculous soft zone whdn were up in games. Especially because tackling is a lost art-form, and we can’t perform up to it. Played a huge reason in why they couldn’t get off the field in the second half, and, ultimately, why they wore down so much. On the bucs last td drive, anybody who was going after the qb was a step or two slow off the snap, and were doing a helluva lot of leaning. Also, it was great to see Haden back in the line up. Wish he would’ve had that pick at the end.

I thought Burns looked more in the game today. He got beat on a double move but wasn’t terrible. They need Burns. He’s their only CB that can match with bigger WRs.

But he is done. He has lost all confidence. He had a pass defensed but any deep ball. He just doesn't have it. He is a catch or pass interference waiting to happen on every play.

Let’s also not forget this was a road game where the steelers, especially Ben, have been ******** the bed far too often. It was great to see them play a mostly good game on the road vs a good opponent.

I get the bigger receivers thing. I do. However, he just seems to consistently have problems when he running away from the LOS. He seems much better when he is moving forward. I know this may be heresy... but maybe Burns' best future is at FS?

.

Burns did have that forced fumble. I know he has a lot to work through, but the reality is they have nobody better to replace him.

Not easily confused Sens not quick enough Allen.

With Haden out there, they have to learn to cheat a S over there to cover over the top.

Those S's are still a work in progress, so that is a problem too. Until it's not.

Here's a positive...

At 1-1-1 Tomlin is right on track for not ever having a losing season!!!!

Yes!

Such positivity will not be tolerated on this board. Are you new around here or something?:spy:

Aye. Burns did force a fumble. His coverage in zone however is an issue.

Positives: No "Road Ben", Vance McDonald emerging as a weapon, relatively good performance from Finney & Feiler, Ju Ju is a force, Conner's ability to run the ball in the 4th, defense forced turnovers. Biggest positive... the drive before the half. When the Steelers got the ball I was just hoping for a FG. That was a great 2 min drill... good clock management, and most importantly they got a TD!

Negatives: Pass defense.... the DBs who blitzed (Sutton and maybe Sensabaugh) in place of Hilton looked terrible on the blitz, the pass rush in the 4th quarter... i know they were tired but it looked like they weren't even trying. Offense starting with yet another 3 & out. And Boswell (although I'm not giving up on him b/c his misses have been close).

Not saying much. Butbi think Big Dan had his best day asa pro

You can twist the words you can look at the game and hey we mad a tackle or a stop but sugar coating this defense after the three game we have witnessed does not get it. Excuses for Burns and his play is really giving benefit of doubt. The doubt is this defense is in what we see. They continue to give the offense poor field position, if the offense scores the defense allows the opposition to go right down the field. We have seen it, our offense takes five minutes to score here come the other teams in three plays inside the red zone. If we have players are plying BECAUSE no one better than we need to be looking out side tour locker room for help. Brown and Ben something is not here as now but we have a few other receivers and TE's making plays. We have score thirty points in two game and for some miracle last night we are 1-1 not 0-2-1. We had Cleveland beat and yes turn overs but the defense made no plays EXCEPT the block field goal in the last eight minutes. Just hard to put any positive on Any of the plays by the defense when the bad play OUT TRUMOS THE GOOD.
