hey, i'll gladly admit that when the team was 0-3, i would've laughed if someone would've told me that they'd be 4-4 five weeks later.

but that being said, i still think the best thing that can happen for this franchise long-term, is for the team to eventually get a new staff in place. the last 5 weeks certainly does nothing to change that opinion for me.

Yes, Tomlin is doing a heck of a job getting this team to 4-4 at this stage. Kudos to him for rallying the troops and getting the Steelers back on the winning path.

Hate the topic as we beat it to death but a good job wouldn't be garbage out of the gates. And a good job would be a playoff outcome. Which obviously no need to paint it with a broad brush it is still to be determined.

I am not going to fawn over rallying to 4-4. There is a lot Tomlin, and the coaching staff as a whole could do a lot better. Truth is, I thought after starting 0-3 that it would be worse. But the Steelers have found 3 teams that are worse than them, and one with a dinosaur for a kicker. Take out the Rams, and people will start taking notice.

We are playing some really bad teams, and one team that handed us the game yesterday. I agree with Sarge and his dinosaur kicker comment.

The truth is, the defense is very good and producing many turnovers. The last time I checked the team was +10 On Turnovers. What if we were even? Boswell has been money.

The coaching has been bad in some games. We played five games at home, three on the road.

Yeah Tibs, with a dinosaur for a kicker. One of the worst shanks I have seen in the modern era. They lucked out yesterday. You can say it. It's ok. A win is a win, and I'll take it.

This story is exactly what I would expect from Dale Lolley. He is a total homer and CMT apologist. IDK how anyone can listen to him on the radio. He can not go one segment without mocking fans who criticize the great MT. :rolleyes1:

No I do not think he's doing a great job leading this team. Look, Tomlin imo is an average coach and no more. Here's a guy who had generational talent at RB in LevBell and WR in AB, and a franchise QB, plus a pretty damn good offensive line. Then on top of that, he has what, 8,9, 10 first and second round picks on defense but the best he can do is make one appearance in the AFCCG only to get destroyed. Then the Jacksonville playoff debacle at home where he clearly is looking ahead to the Pats. Mix in some one and dons and missing the playoffs altogether sans 2018 season when they clearly blew it down the stretch. Nah, ain't buying it my friends. Never have I witnessed a HC doing so little with so much talent.

The best we can hope for is an 8-8 season which will make Tomlin look like a great coach in the eyes of a Daniel Snyder, so Art and Colbert can fleece him of high draft picks to trade for this buffoon and we start fresh with new HC and staff. The guy clearly has had his opportunities here and was successful early on with players and coordinators that had been in place when he arrived.

Two stupid challenges lost yesterday that cost two timeouts that could have been deadly for the Steelers but thankfully we dodged a bullet.

The reality is we are 4-4. It doesn't matter how or why but we are. To say Tomlin is the greatest and even a consideration for coach of the year is laughable. I do respect the wins etc but also see the deficiencies accumulated as well. Tomlin and staff need to step up, including bubbles!

We had no business winning that game yesterday, was a minor miracle he missed a gimmie kick at the end. Watching our O was painful much of the game. We let their back-up QB mostly have his way with us. We have to play significantly better against the Rams to have a chance.

Having said that, let the Tomlin adulation commence! Best coach in the league, hands down. Coach of the Year nominee for sure. :) :)

Team wins again despite Tomlin

Another game of absolutely puzzling challenges and non challenges where an out coached team comes out on top do to a helluva lucky shank by the opposing kicker. Their 3rd stringer to open the year was out there carving us up, and we would’ve been screwed if the old man did his job because the brilliance of MT burning up timeouts like they don’t matter (the standard).

Minkah has already swung 2-3 games our way, I give Minkah WAY more credit for this streak than MT

And it was the brilliance of Tomlin (and Colbert) to make the move for Fitz, and for putting him in the position to succeed. When it comes to success, all roads lead to Tomlin, give credit where credit is due. And as far as the deficiencies, well everyone knows the assistant coaches are to blame for that.

Bottom line is you are what you record shows. And it shows us as average. Now we have wins that could have been losses easily and losses that could have been wins easily. So that is almost balancing itself out. Then statistically the Steelers are below average on offense above average on defense. Let us be honest neither side of the ball generates a high amount of confidence. They are getting turnovers and they are 11th on points given up so overall pretty happy in that aspect. But they didn't play to that statistic yesterday giving up more points than their average.

I think the D is playing good enough to win. The O not so much. That is where significant improvement needs to be made and quickly.

It is like a mix glass of emotions. I am happy we aren't the bungles but also not happy we aren't looking like contenders.

So I think average is a fair assessment on where the team and coaching stands right now.

With Ben we would be 7-2 or 6-2. Without Tomlin maybe 5-3 :)

I'm just not happy with our coordinators. We need some new blood and new vision for O and D, imho.

LIFETIME contract extension, SUPER BOWL WINNING Head Coach Michael Vincent Lombardi Tomlin

Officials were almost taken away our win with insane play calls, not able to admit their dumbness even in it is clear in replays. But thanks to kicker Justice prevailed at the end. But still we blame our team. So far ppl cried we didn't win against winning record team, we sacked 5 times and turned the ball couple of times, still we feel not worthy to win.

We blame our team either win or lose. Looks like ppl are fixed their mind. So no point in discussing.

The only truly important point Lolley makes is that the regardless of what happens this season, Tomlin isn't going anywhere.

The Steelers have played teams with a combined 28-39 and 14 of those wins were from the Ravens and P*ts. (on the other hand, 15 of the losses were from the Phins and Bengals, so pretty much a wash there.)

The Steelers are playing better than teams that really really suck and they're losing to teams that are better than average. The Colts game was their first win against a winning team this season. Sure, it was lucky at the end there. If Vinatieri wasn't having a Boswell year the Colts would have pulled the game out, but, far as I know my aunt doesn't have balls.

I think the Browns games, while obviously winnable, will be dangerous. Cleveland at this point has nothing left to play for but to beat Pittsburgh. The Bengals truly seem to be tanking. Even they can't be THAT bad. The Jets are pretty hapless and the Steelers should get that game. So right there you have 4 more likely wins as long as they take the Browns very seriously.

That will give Tomlin his coveted 8 wins. Honestly that's pretty much all I expect of him. But he DOES seem as though he's able to deliver that.

Ironically, I fully expect next year, when Ben returns and the D-Line is all healthy again and Minkah Fitz has a year in the system and everything is pointed in the right direction for the Steelers... I expect about 9-7 from Tomlin. Cause honestly, his ceiling just isn't much higher than his 'floor'.

You should really do more research before you post...

The team has 20+ turnovers at this point of the season.
