Alright so the draft and Free agency are now over. I’ve put together a makeshift depth chart of what I could see happening (or not) of course pending injuries and such. I’m impressed with the additions. We have turned some positions that have been broadly thought of as “weaknesses” and potentially turned them into “strengths. Wildcards here are going to be Artie, Matakevich, and Brian Allen. Brian Allen’s special team play and progression might keep him on he 53. Artie we don’t know what to expect, and matakevich seems to be the last man in a now deep and crowded room.

Kicker situation and backup FS need addressed still IMO. I love the competition everywhere else though.

I think Dobbs & Rudolf need flipped for depth and that will happen in TC, Rogers will be odd man out, Ola will replace Chick by mid-season. DEFINITELY NEED more kicker & punter competition during TC and NOT after season starts. I also thought one of our draftee's has LS experience.... can't remember who but I hope he presses in that role and can serve as a back up instead of bringing James Harrison back for that role.........

They usually keep 6 WRs right?

Juju
DM
Switz
Washington
DJ

and Rogers would be the sixth or not?

Remember Hunter and DHB are gone too...

Ola will have to fight off Sutton first...

Oh the TE position will have to be monitored too. If the rookie proves to be less than adequate then a vet will have to be shoveled in. Which is what I hope they do for FS....

If he is kept, he would be at the bottom of the depth chart by mid-season. He has lost a step and ONLY played last season due to experience. I might get plesantly surprised as he should be totally healthy and back to the form we all remeber.

Agree and I think he will and hopefully over-take Chickillo by mid-season........ I might be wishful thinking but I'm allowed to that pleasure.............

I'm excited for some of these battles to commence and ALWAYS hope our coaches, who see them on a daily dose, will make BEST PLAYER choices and NOT monetary / draft order type choices. TEAM FIRST and not worry how you are perceived due to that product.

I would like to see Rudolph ascend past Dobbs whether on the depth chart or not. I just think his style I'd more conducive to successs

Big training camp for both. Rudolph doesn't seem the type to want to hold down the number three spot. I can tell he is itching for more.

Tightend needs upgraded

Trevor Wood is the player with LS experience. Played TE, DE, and LS at A&M

I agree with most of what you guys said. I don’t know about Eli being left out though, when he came back he was quickly one of bens favorites.

2018 he had 12 receptions for 79yards. last game against the bungles he had 7 of those twelve....................................................... I think BEN took what was given as JuJu & Washington were being taken away by "D" game plan. I want Rogers to succeed but I thinkl he is limited in ability & speed. Who knows until training camp / pre season and if he has fully healed without losing any speed.

Coaches said with Hilton and Sutton moving over to fill in at safety they felt there was no need to address the safety positions

I hope Rudolph is sprinkled in enough to integrate him into the offense and also give Ben opportunities to rest up, rehab, etc. which could extend Ben's career. I think Mason could be the "one" .

It's very typical of Colbert and Tomlin to have most of the boxes filled before entering a draft. This roster is no different.

The problem I see (and this is throughout this current regime) is the backups are often treated as backups and the starters are treated as starters and any injury (which are bound to come) seems to mean we put a guy in that isn't ready mentally or isn't athletic enough to do the job.

I like the quality of backups at RB (Samuels impressed, Snell a solid #3 back), OT (Feiler and Hawkins backing up Okorafor and Villanueva), WR with the addition of Johnson (Washington or Johnson now the #4 guy), ILB (Barron as a backup and nickel/dime guy), and CB (four deep).

Depth is a question/concern at QB (nobody is comparable to Roethlisberger), G, C (drop-off noticeable), TE, DE and S.

But that can be said of most teams. Most teams don't have a "second" starting line-up sitting on the bench.

i don't understand why everyone hates rogers. He played well last year when he was in. I still think he makes the team

Maybe he will but he won't be a #3 or a #4. He will be 5 or 6 which is about where he showed his talent last season. I know coming off injury sometimes you need an off-season to fully heal so I hope he does and can contribute in competition through out camp and perform to old level of himself. I want what ever makes this TEAM the best and if Rogers is a part of that, hell yes but if NOT, then cut ties and move on....... NO roster spot for "past" performances, it's what can you do for me NOW baby...........!!!!

Preseason sure, but if you’re talking regular season there is no chance. In the NFL your starter doesn’t get spelled for a backup for any time unless it’s an injury. If either Rudolph or Dobbs are seeing significant time in the real games, our season would be in serious jeopardy.

The team has spent some high picks on WRs recently. Of course Rogers will be low in the chart, but he’s serviceable. I think any team would be happy to have him at the 6 spot. It’s gonna be a great season, I’m excited. No more force feeding Brown.

Rookie Gray is a guard, not a tackle.

Any IC, Rogers played in 5 games last year after coming back from his torn ACL. That's why he had 7 catches vs Cincinnati and only 11 on the season.
