If the Devin's aren't on the board - I'm going to be pretty sad if Baker is the next targeted player...knowing all of the WR talent that we have to face this season - THE BEST DB's need to be on the field...

I don't get the love affair here Berm ?

However, Baker's draft stock has seemed to take a dip during the pre-draft process. Character concerns have reportedly arisen, dating back to Baker's decision to sit out Georgia's season-ending Sugar Bowl loss to the Texas Longhorns, according to ESPN NFL draft insider Todd McShay.

“I know I’m the best cornerback in the draft,” Baker said, via the Associated Press. “I don’t just believe it, I know I’m the best. … My film speaks for itself. My stats, everything. My production, week in and week out. You go back to 2017 or the first day I started I was the best cornerback in the nation.”

This attitude sounds vaguely familiar.

Bleacher report has him ranked fifth among cb's, most others are @2or3 and even though we should be targeting an ILBer @1 the chances of us being able to pick first in the CB field is possible.

Why would you want this guy ??

OVERALL

Baker's tape is some of the best from the 2019 cornerback class, but average testing and poor interviews seem to have affected his stock. He's a potential rookie starter if teams are able to vet his character and dial in on who he is as a player and person.

GRADE: 6.95 (ROUND 2 - ROOKIE IMPACT)

PRO COMPARISON: Malcolm Butler

Hey Uncle Chip! I've scoured the internet and the only negative is him sitting out a game.

His play speaks for itself thus my attraction to him.

The kid defends like a pro. Tackles like a pro.

If the Devin's are gone, IMO, he's the safest pick.

14 catches allowed in the 2018 season is very impressive. How many times was he targeted, I'd like to know? If the answer is 30, it tells me something. 50, and I'm impressed.

One more thing Bermuda,

Liberty City is a rough area, and Baker did not interview well. This is a red flag. Antonio Brown is from Liberty City. Like I said before I like Baker best in round two. I could tolerate him in round one as I think he's the 2nd best corner in the draft in a weak year for corners due to the Steelers need at that position.

I guess you can't answer my question on how many times he was targeted despite watching the SEC a lot. Oh well. It's a legitimate question. I guess you have no clue, even though you probably would like to know too. If he targeted a lot, allowing 14 catches is impressive. You asked me to check out your thread, I did.

I guess you can't answer my question on how many times he was targeted despite watching the SEC a lot. Oh well. It's a legitimate question. I guess you simply have no clue, even though you probably would like to know too. If he wasn't targeted much, allowing 14 catches is impressive. You asked me to check out your thread, I did.

Please...you want people to answer your queries and you stay ghosted for days...LOL

Fixed it for you!
A lot of attention goes to combine numbers, however all these great WRs with better numbers still couldn’t get open when he’s covering them
On paper they should just blow by him but they can’t!!!

Answer the question, Claire.

You're the only one on the board that I saw who wants Baker with our first round pick. I'm all right with that depending on who is on the board, but I prefer to get him in the 2nd round, where many project him to go.

If Baker had a high target amount in the SEC with just 14 receptions given up, then he goes way up in my mind. But you don't know how many targets he had.

Comeon Berm....you are not lookin' at all the ramifications of his attitude and shortcomings.

Sorry but I see red flags

th

One of us is right...I guess time will tell.

I think the guy is confident and he must be and deservedly so his game shows it, look at his numbers no receiver has over 100 yards vs him and correct me if I’m wrong no more than 3 catches in any game that’s in 3 years oh and yeah only 1 touchdown vs him in coverage and that was in 2016. On top of that he played in the SEC with the teams like Alabama and Clemson. He covered the top WR every game! Greedy can’t say that nor can Murphy.

the info is easy enough to find if you look. why the **** should anyone find the data for you, you are supposed to be such an excellent draft guru.......at least in your mind

as a junior he was targeted 42 times and gave up 18 receptions

as a senior he was targeted 38 times and gave up 14 catches - 6 of those were on the 12 targets of Deebo Samuel in the SC game (only gained 33 yards, no completion was more than 10 yards)

Thanks for the work Coolie, I as others appreciate it.

Salute the nation

Of those 42 times he picked 2 off and batted 9 down

everything I read said that as a senior he was tasked with following the other teams best WR the majority of the game...37% completion against the top WRs in the SEC

without the 50% against Samuel the rest of the games were 30.7% completion against rate....

So a little off topic, but it sounds more & more like Deebo Samuel is a stud?

If he fell to round 2 I'd sprint to the podium I think.

Collie killed Cooch in another thread.

6 catches for a total of 33 yards take away his long catch for 10 yards,
5 catches 23 yards I also think baker dropped him for a 1 yards loss
On his only running attempt.

Is Deebo Samuel a WR worthy of a 2nd round pick, or no? I honestly haven't watched him or read much about him, but I keep seeing him with some good numbers and torching good cornerbacks.

Kind of a little off topic and a little back on topic... in another thread, I believe it was video of Deebo Samuel, in a drill, absolutely abusing Rock Ya-Sin, recently speculated to be a possibility with the 20th pick! I would take Baker 6 days a week and twice on Sunday over Ya-Sin at 20!!!

Like I said in another thread, with no obvious #1 corner in the group of Williams, Baker and Murphy, if all 3 are there at 20, make every attempt to trade back where they can still reasonably expect to get 1 of those 3, while gaining valuable draft capital. Unless the Steelers have one the view as the clear cut top corner, well ahead of the other 2, then just pull the trigger if their guy is there, but it absolutely should not be Ya-Sin!

Or give up a 3rd and 6th for Hockeson!
