Kovacevic - Polamalu leaves on unhappy terms

I never thought of the Steeler way as them drafting saints and keeping them that way. I always saw it as them drafting players and molding them into the very best they could be.

BOTH on and off the field. Like most things, there is a degree of success and failure. For awhile, before the "Social Media" era, it seemed like the STEELERS had things under control. Now, I think they are in the mix as above average, but eceptional as perceived in the past.

Salute the nation

Generally speaking they didn't draft players with a known history of being troublemakers in college. Some got that way afterward but I think in general they do a better job than other teams.

It is all risk reward analysis. You have to factor the talent of the player versus whether he will be suspended/ cause a distraction. Some teams like the Bengles and Ravens tend to take more chances with character. Watching the 70's Raiders that was their MO. But as we have all seen the Steelers have took many of these players as well. Certainly, Holmes, Adams and Marvel Smith were flagged. I think if you look in hindsight on Ben, there must have been some issues too that might not have been as well known. I think he has grown up a lot. But in the first half of his career there was clearly some growing up needed in terms of decision making and being a good team mate/ leader.

Which Holmes are you talking about?

A lot of the older players have been blamed and sent packing because the defense has been less than the standard but only then to be brought back and just as heavily relied apon as they were before they were let go, but of coarse, at a reduced rate of pay. It would be ****** to be layed off at work because youre too old only to be brought back to the same job but, oh Ya, you gotta do the young guys work too but for less money. I think troy wasn't ready to leave but knew we were going to need cap room. He wasn't going to take less money to do the same job. all this talk of loosing a step may or not be true but big play play makers like troy are usually only as good as the guys around them and the older guys like him have been screwed by the horrible drafting of younger talent. Go in peace troy see you in canton.
