As of 4:15 today, Friday Aug 21st... 5 interceptions in training camp, 1 INT in 2 preseason games (with limited action). This kid is a player. The Steelers better see what he is doing, and make sure they don't lose him. The kid has Skiiiiiiiiillllls!!!!

Yes he seems to be becoming a camp darling... I just do not know which person he beats out on the 53...

and this is what worries me. Do we lose yet another talented young player to "experience" or draft status?

I think Fogg beats out Grant at this point. I'd prefer to see if Grant clears waivers over Fogg. But truthfully I feel Allen, Gay, Boykin, Blake, Fogg and then Grant makes it as a CB and swing emergency safety.

Well on the flip side, who do you cut? The guy has ball skills but that doesn't mean he is ready to play and the NFL never adjusted rosters to 65 or 70 like it should have when it decided playing through injuries wasn't cool anymore...

Golston is going to be IR'd.
Allen is going to make the team because if he quits mentally hesitating he is the most gifted CB they have
Gay will make the team because he is the most productive all around CB they have,
Boykin is going to be their best CB, he is making it.
Mike Mitchell is getting a safety spot.
So is Thomas
Will Allen is the safety net in case Thomas really cannot cut it.

After them you have Grant, who looks good,
Blake, who has potential and experience,
Golden, who honestly I like more than Thomas and who has been developed for years and can play safety or CB
Darby, who has looked good in the preseason
and Fogg

I just don't see a surefire cut that needs to go right now.

Grant is a fourth. After three there is less safety in being drafted in my opinion. I think the best stay beyond three's. Your list makes sense to me madinsomniac. All three of Boykin, Allen and Gay will play a ton unless Allen is done mentally, but my guess is more zone will suit him. I think they will probably play Gay in the slot and Boykin will be the boundary or cover corner depending on Allen. Mitchell and W. Allen for sure Thomas will likely get first shot at starting over Allen. Honestly after that it will be up to the coaches who see these guys every day. There has to be enough there. They just have to be good/decent.

Taylor Mays - DB - Free Agent

Lions released S Taylor Mays.
Mays reportedly asked for his release after not playing in Thursday's preseason game. The Lions are the second team to release him. Mays was signed for the veteran minimum and should resurface as a backup/sub-package safety.

don't forget Ross Ventrone, we might actually go with 10 DBs and even then a few decent guys are getting cut.
If the Oline backups are so weak behind Cody Wallace and Villanueva let's just roll with 8 Olinemen and if anyone goes down you call the kids on PS, they are not close to deserving a roster spot yet but some of those CBs and Safeties do.

Would be cool to see Willie Mays Hays

I would try to find a way to keep all six. I know that's very heavy at cornerback, but tough to lose a young guy like Fogg or Grant given the potential they've shown.

#30? Can he tackle?

I'll admit I'm biased. That said, according to the guys at the Depot who have been watching every practice, Grant is making the 53. May not have the interceptions of Fogg, but is always in the right place and is knocking down passes and stripping receivers. Also, Grant is being groomed for ST, which factors into who stays and who goes when you get down to those "backup to the backup" spots. The battle for an additional spot at CB (if there is one) is between Fogg and Webb. So far they are neck and neck (again according to the Depot guys, and for what it's worth).

Interceptions are important, but they come from circumstance more often than not. Other then poor hands (ala Ike) if you are consistently in the right spots with a little experience/ anticipation the picks will come.

I have changed my roster predictions 5 times between Fogg and Webb

Both seem to be doing good, and Webb is from Tomlin's school so I wonder however so slightly if that will be factored in. ( probably not)

But a close competition in my eyes none-the-less.

I guess they will choose which one is more fundamentally sound.

VS competition they faced.

Beam me up Scotty that guy has some serious air under him 30 is going to have to reach up for a shoestring tackle.

#18 is Goodwin, #30 is Fogg
