It has been reported by several media outlets that current Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert has resigned from the Robert Morris board of trustees.

The decision to resign comes shortly after the university’s decision to cut both their men and women’s hockey programs, a decision that apparently rubbed Colbert the wrong way.

Colbert has been on RMU’s board of trustees since 2011, and the university will be sad to see him go according to a text from RMU spokesperson Jonathan Potts that stated, “We are certainly grateful for the time he served on the board and the substantial support he has given the university over the years.”

There are some additional reports suggesting that the decision to cut the hockey programs was made by solely the board chairman and university president without discussing with the board. The way it was handled, as well as the decision itself combined to reportedly be enough for Colbert to step away.

Any RMU alumni on this board? If I was one I would be breaking down the door demanding why two guys made a decision that a Board of Trustees vote requires? Don’t blame Colbert one bit and he is an alumni!

I went there...

Welcome to 2021 were the very few make all the decisions for the entire country..

And if I still lived in Pittsburgh...I probably would be more vocal/active about this horrible decision.

I have no stake of any kind but am opposed as well.

Just fewer opportunities available for current and potential RMU students. Never like to see any positive, worthwhile programs cut.

Take a stand brother. I have no ties to Stanford, But I wrote and called the asshat AD after he elected to remove wrestling after alumni raised enough money to fully fund the program for 50 years. They had an NCAA champ who wore a black singlet during the tournament without any Stanford logo. The AD succumbed to the pressure and reinstated the wrestling program. we can do a lot if we just stick together and fight.
