Keep JUJU cause D. Johnson isn’t that good

I’d rather keep the better receiver now and let Dionte go after his contract is up

Johnson dances around and takes yards off of every catch he makes (and that's if he actually catches it). That big catch at the end might've been a TD or a goal-to-go situation if he didn't make the 2nd cut back to the left.

Yep, if he secures the ball and heads right at the DB on the inside, he dictates the play. Instead he juked back to the left and ultimately killed himself with angles. Still, I didn't actually WANT him to score right then as it would leave more time on the clock and the defense was not exactly all-world.

To be honest, I trust Washington more and Johnson. Johnson is a tease and a disappointment but every now and then he's gold. That one 42 yard play was more than half his receiving yards.

Claypool was off today.

Probably in another thread but WHAT THE HELL with the clock management after the Hayward sack ?!?!?

Dionte Johnson has an uncanny ability to move in traffic. The last WR we had who could do that was Santonio Holmes.....Dionte Johnson is a good WR.....I just wish he had better hands.

Johnson was anointed as the second coming of AB. **** like that goes to your head and you don’t work as hard. Couple that with the play of the others around him, and I think he is trying too hard to show up the others. This team has 4 quality WR’s playing, they don’t need a competition to see who is best.

i'm not ready to discard DJ. he is pretty dynamic when he does catch the ball.

I agree that he should have just stayed inside on that big play of his, but also was not upset he didn't score as I fully expected Ben would get them in the end zone on that drive.

would love to keep JuJu also since he is money......

They all are a bunch of really good WR2’s. It's hard because Ben is spending the ball around so much. Johnson had a nice first down catch and run at the end of the game that ended up giving us the lead. Johnson is a good WR stuck on a team with other good receivers but nobody great. Obviously the only exception could be Claypool but it’s still hard to tell.

That guy who isn’t that good made a crucial catch & run with 3:09 left set up our game winning TD...

You are hanging your hat on a guy with 1 catch in the past 3 games? Good that his only catch is a TD, but better than DJ, you are high! I'll take 16 catches and 2TDs in 3 games over 1 catch any day. DJ is a big reason why we gutted out 3 road wins in a row.

Pop is just trying to sow seeds of descent. These WRs compliment each other very well. They are all talented and they all can make plays after the catch. All 5. Now you have E doing this as well at TE? That's a tough 6 to defend.

Johnson is only a 2nd year player coming from a small school program. Plenty of growth to happen in his game.

No doubt, he's going to get better. I really think he needs to work on balance and foot work placement on routes. His slipping in and out of breaks has been a problem since his college playing.

Once he has the ball in his hands, he's very dangerous and a playmaker.

He needs to buy ABs football jugs machine and work on his hands. That is the only thing holding him back. But like it has been said there is time to improve in a wet behind the ears p[layer.

Even IF all of them are good #2’s, that is not a bad thing.

What Ju JU has proven he is a tough receiver and now that Claypool takes some of the defense pressure Ju JU has made some good plays.. Johnson give the kid a chance he has also made so good plays at crucial times.

Johnson will be fine, but I do wish Ben would consistently target the guys with better hands when it's 3rd and long. When he goes for those homeruns he needs to make sure he's got them, otherwise take the damn dump off that gives you another set of downs. That being said, it's hard to ***** when you're 8-0. :)

Two weeks in a row drives dominated by throws to Juju led to good things. We need to find him earlier in games and once we spread the defense out we have lots of weapons to work with.

It would also help if our running game would actually generate some positive yards.

And then there was JuJu's planed celebration on the mid field star. Thank God Connor stopped him. Disrespect is a bad look. If JuJu wants to be like T.O. he can take that **** somewhere else!

Let me preface this by saying that I like JuJu.

But I've been reading in other threads about comparisons to Hines Ward, and how clutch he is...

a) JuJu is nowhere near the blocker Hines Ward was. On DJ's end around in the third quarter, he basically stopped, ran around in a semi-circle, blocked no one, and the guy who he should have blocked on the outside made the tackle. Could have been a huge play if it had been executed properly. And...

b) How quickly some of you have forgotten several key drops by Smith-Schuster at crucial points of important games in the past. He's doing better in clutch moments this year, for sure, but those critical mistakes are hard for me to overlook.

Bottom line is pay him like a #2, or let him walk. He's not worth breaking the bank, with the solid corps of other young receivers the Steelers already have.
