Look, countless people on here are bashing JuJu left and right. Is some of it deserved? Very little.

It seems everyone on here has forgotten he was playing through injuries in camp and all through the season and he was playing a new WR position. There was not a single game you can say he was better than 90% healthy, not one. And, during the first half of the year when he was nearing 90% (if that), we had no legit No. 2 WR getting open and he had our backup QB throwing to him (and most of you thought Rudolph sucked back then and couldn't find an open WR, JuJu or other). Diontae and Washington didn't start getting open or doing anything until JuJu was out completely.

Does this deserve its own thread? ****, yes, because I'm tired of responding to the whiny ******* on here complaining about JuJu. I fully expect him to be back healthy next year. He'll have a legit No. 2 and even No. 3 opposite him and he should have Ben back and not a No. 2 or No. 3 QB throwing to him.

If he sucks this coming year, assuming he is healthy, then you can ***** and moan.

JuJu will be alright. I think probably too much was put on him from the start. He is still really young and probably not ready to assume the #1 position but that's the way the chips fell. I bet he will reflect on what was a ****** year and next year be the #1 receiver we expected him to be.

The continued emergence of Dionte Johnson next year will help. The kid is legit. Once Ju Ju is healthy and has a real QB throwing the ball, I think he will bounce back. Washington is the big question mark to me. He shows real flashes of excellence one week and looks clueless the next. He needs to figure it out because the potential for a nice trio there. We need a dependable TE who can stay healthy for more than two weeks at a time also.

Again, how you can evaluate any of our WR or RB this year is a mystery to me. With the combination of Rudolph and Duck under center, we basically had no offense to start with. If teams don't respect your QB, you are behind the 8 ball to start.

lol

Excuses and alibis ?

He's still a good player, just not a true #1, he got smothered by defenses and nobody got open

Of course a **** running game didn't help at all, back to the draft drawing board

True no. 1? Maybe. You absolutely can't tell based on this season. Next year, we should be able to tell but not this year, especially with him being injured the ENTIRE year.

He might not need to be if DJ keeps progressing.

I said it in other threads, if JuJu is healthy and Diontae and Washington keep progressing, we will have a very formidable WR crew. Diontae should take the position vacated by AB so JuJu can go back to where he was his first year. We might even pick up a WR in this draft since it is so deep. Of course, all of this hinges on having someone that can throw it to them.

I’ll wait to BB starts tossing again to make a judgement on him. I can see 1000 plus yards next year with BB at helm

JuJu was on pace for 1,000 yards through the first seven games of the season. Injuries and bad QB play mounted and he certainly didn't look like the same player either. The season is done and he and everyone else get a fresh start next year.

Bitter clingers still think he can replace AB

LOL

Exactly.

He was making big plays early in the season, but the injuries and QB play pretty much derailed his season.

Between him and Johnson, the WR position is in good shape, IMO.

LOL

People had doubts about whether Brown could replace Wallace at first as well.

It's pointless to draw any conclusions about him from this season given the circumstances and how productive and dynamic he was in his first two seasons.

Correct.

Johnson is the future #1 receiver on this team. No need to delay the inevitable.

I think the Steelers are looking at a 1a/1b type scenario with Johnson and Juju like they had with Ward and Burress and with Wallace and Brown.

Both are amazing talents. It's just going to come down to health and the QB play.

Actually not what I meant at all. You don't need to play AB's position to be a No. 1 WR on a team. JuJu excelled where he was. If he goes back there and puts up 100 catches and 1,000+ yards, he is back to being the No. 1 WR unless someone else can put up better numbers. Diontae and even Washington both have the potential to put up those type numbers. If all three are healthy and add in another WR that can play when needed and utilize our TE to actually catch passes, this O could be very dangerous. Of course, it all still hinges on Ben being back or, at least having a legit starter playing at QB. That could be Rudolph still or it could be someone else.

if after dupree and some restructures and if we replace hargrave with tyson and decide not to pay the market val to hilton then layne and sutton play the slot. vannett offer the vet min 2 years to compete vs gentry and hopefully vertical threat rookie at worst in camp 2nd or final rnd of cuts he is cut.
this draft is loaded at WR where playmakers between rnd 2-4 can be had if nico Collins declares if we still have our rnd 3 pick at 6"4 220 and perhaps 4.4 speed he would be a great downfield target for ben or mason. I think peoples-jones goes late rnd 1 or early rnd 2.
I would go
rnd 2 OL OT C or OG
rnd 3 WR
rnd 4 TE
rnd 5 DT
rnd 6 P
rnd 7 BPA

I am thinking I prefer a free agent Olineman (RT). I would be ok with NT/RB in 2 and 3. Free agency would be Finney and Bud resign and a RT/ QB brought in.

Actually, I said you were correct about moving Johnson to the X. That's what you said, and I simply agreed.

It's my opinion that DJ will emerge as the #1 receiver in that spot going forward. JuJu is better suited at Y. There aren't too many slot guys who are considered #1's.

Got ya. How about that little guy in NE? He's definitely their No. 1 and they seem to have almost always had their No. 1 guy at that position (Welker, etc. ) So, it's possible for a guy at any WR position to command double teams and that's what a No. 1 does. That and put up numbers in the 100 catch and 1,000+ yard range.

Great. How many more can you name?

I was agreeing with you but an outside guy certainly doesn't have to be your top producing WR. JuJu was ours last year and he wasn't on the outside. JuJu can go back to where he was and now that we potentially have another legit WR or two, he can put up close to or even over 100 catches and 1,000 yards again. If he is healthy next year (unlike every game he played this year), his numbers will easily go up significantly. Plus, if Ben is back, all the better for JuJu and the other WR's.

We truly need to get a good receiver coach, our receivers have a hard time getting open no matter what their name is
