49er fan friend just texted me there are rumors of Juju to 49ers for 31st pick. Sorry I dont have a link.

Who would the Steelers like at 31?

I'm thinking they need to dump salary with Minkah, Watt and possibly Dupree.

Well if you step back for a minute and view it....... no one is safe from trading in the NFL........ he had a down year, injury, has only one year left on his contract and we may have an interupted season....
Right now his value will be better than if he has another so so year...... if he does play decent like you say it will be tough to sign him to big WR money with the DEF stars that will need to be retained
....and ...if you are going to do it ....this is the year where you could grab a decent WR late 1st round and still pick up another WR in the later rounds for depth... get them to throw in Matt Brieda and a box of Rice r Roni and I will consent.

I like JuJu but I think he is easier to replace than Watt or Minkah

And you know the Steelers aren't going to pay BIG $$$ at the wide out position...

This deal could happen...

I also believe something was "rotten in Denmark" with JuJu last year personally..

I think its non-sense. Hard to judge anyone from the **** show offense last year. JuJus confidence could be destroyed and may need a change in culture due to his high profile flubs, but i dont see the steelers giving up on him yet.

Colbert can be very confident in his receiver scouting ability. This is a very deep WR draft.

If he thinks he can get as good a WR at #31 for JuJu and re-set the rookie contract, he might consider it. He has to REALLY be confident in a receiver he likes and their test mock drafts indicate he will be available.

I put the rumors at only a 5% chance of happening, but it wouldn't make be fall out of my chair either. After getting his Sports Illustrated Cover, JuJu had a REALLY bad year, even with the poor quarterback play.

I am at 15%

We could probably pick up a better WR than JuJu at 31. Don't get the trade from SF perspective.

Doesnt make sense for either team. Juju is as close to a seasoned vet at wr that we have.

Makes little sense for us to do that. If we did, we'd have no No. 1 WR to start the season. That pick at 1.31 would have to be a WR and they would have to jump right in (with potentially no camp) and have to be our No. 2 or, at worst, No. 3 WR. This is assuming Diontae makes the jump from year 1 to 2 and can become our No. 1 as I don't think Washington is a No. 1 type WR. I don't see it but if they did it, JuJu must have done something to piss them off as he is still very young and full of talent. He was injured last year and I would fully expect him to be back to form this year, especially with Ben back in the mix.

If they're really thinking they want to push for a ring in Ben's last year or two, they aren't going to utterly dismantle and already weak WR corps.

if we are giving up Juju I hope it is for more than just a 1.31, he is not only talented but also a fan favorite that will sell a load t-shirts. And if we trade him I hope they invest a high pick at WR because we will have a void for the final Ben run

I've been thinking about a JuJu trade for a few days...I just don't think it makes sense right now. We would pick up some draft capital but lose a very good player at a position where guys are still wet behind the ears.

I am not buying. It also would take more than the 31st for me to give him up.

Rumor at best, but Sask, you make an excellent point. The Steelers can't keep all of their free agents next year. Some people are leaving. If they can get a first round pick that's great, but I also agree with steelhurt, and think if we move JuJu, it will take 2 picks to do it. And if there was ever a draft to grab WRs, this is it.

Though the reason why I'm souring on this move, is it goes completely against the win now approach. JuJu is a proven commodity, team leader, and impeccable character. A rare thing to find in an NFL WR.

It’s a hard one to go one way or the other for me. While I like JuJu,he has had some humongous drops for us in key situations. Correct me if I am wrong, but he is only 23. Last year was a write of offensively for all players as far as I am concerned,it was a **** show. With all these contracts coming up he might be the odd man out. JuJu has reached a bit of a cult status in the NFL. People love his name, his style, personality. Any new team would get a bonafide name,Jersey seller. The younger crowd really love JuJu.

It doesn’t seem to make sense in Ben’s last couple years, but you never know what goes on in the locker room. Has JuJu’s success off the field gone to his head? Hopefully not. Personally I would love to see him have a great year, but then what? A 18 mill + contract? It’s all about the team......if someone offers a deal the FO can’t refuse.....it’s a business. The old salary cap sure makes things interesting.

Maybe SF needs more of a slot WR? In our case we could use the pick to draft a receiver who can stretch the field. We have Dionte Johnson and now Ebron, who for all practical purposes is really like a hybrid slot receiver who could replace JuJu's production.

That can make sense with the WRs, but Ebron's value is when you split him wide and put him on a smaller cornerback. That is how he feasts in the red zone.

Well it makes total sense for the 49ers. They have to deal with Kittle soon. They are basically renting Juju to try and win a SB. Juju is far more proven than anyone at 1.31. Now as far as the Steelers if they feel he will be the odd man out next year, how does it not make sense to take 1.31 now. And While I feel one first round essentially a high second is light it is exactly 13 picks away from what they paid for Fitzpatrick. And then there was some low draft compensation. So explain to ma how that math doesn't work.
