Wow. JuJu Smith-Schuster just caught 370 balls on the JUGs machine after practice (yes, I counted). Left, right, over shoulder, at his feet, between his legs, & one-handed. Top flight talent and work ethic to be a star receiver for a long time. #Steelers

He's got both the talent and work ethic to be great (hell, he already is great IMO), but stuff like this is pretty cool to hear. My old man absolutely loves JuJu, and said he's going to go down as one of the greatest of all time when it's all said and done -- to which I responded "Dad, they got you on some funky medication right now?"

But that's his story and he's sticking to it. I do like the optimism.

You should probably listen to the old man. He may a thing or two.

I definitely do. And he doesn't say that stuff often at all about Steeler players, so it really actually kind of struck me that he said that about JuJu. Barring injury, the sky is the limit. I already heard Michael Irvin saying that he was begging Jerry Jones to draft him, and then I hear another blurb (just a day ago) from another analyst that echoes what my old man said.

He may be onto something.

JuJu has the MOST important trait needed to succeed, he is a grounded individual. He is "BIG" due to his talent / work ethic / stardom, but NOT to big to give a ****. He cares and that comes from his upbringing.

Salute the nation

Love JuJu as well. He reminds me a lot of Hines Ward.

Ward did work alot with JuJu at training camp when JuJu was a rookie. Ward was attached to his hip the day I was at training camp then.

The only thing that could slow JuJu down is when Ben retires, but Hines put up number with Kordell and Maddox.

My only concern with JuJu is his lack of elite speed.

However, he has shown on several occasions that his 'game speed' is more than adequate. He broke at least 2 or 3 last year that he had no business breaking. Just a smart guy who takes great angles and forces DBs to make choices they don't want to make in their angles.

As one of my all-time favorite receivers said, "Hard work beats talent (substitute speed) when talent doesn't work hard."

Yes sir, indeed. Well said.

He timed faster than Ward, but both guys run good routes and know how to get separation.

He's got a 90+ yard TD catch, maybe two that would beg to differ on this lack of speed stuff

Yeah I still don't get this. Watch the man on the field running. He has two 90+ yard TDs, in just two years of playing. Jerry Rice wasn't a burner. Michael Irvin wasn't a burner. Chris Carter wasn't a burner. Yet they're all in the Hall of Fame. Give this elite speed narrative up already.

we'd be fooling ourselves to dismiss AB's work ethic impact on Juju. AB, the idiot he turned out to be, had an elite work ethic. Obviously that rubbed off onto Juju.
as long as Juju doesn't get AB's blown-up ego (and from the looks of things, that's the least likely of things to happen), Juju should be very, very good.

Absolute truth. About a year ago, somebody posted that he worried AB had taken too many shots to the head. I dismissed the comment, but his behavior last year, during the offseason, and so far with the Faiders makes me think that poster was right. AB is just simply @#$%ed in the head right now.

Juju is NOT. He is incredible. Comparison of first two seasons:

Receiver 1:

Catches: 169
Yards: 2343
YPC: 13.9
TD's: 14
Long: 97 yds (x 2)

Receiver 2:

Catches: 85
Yards: 1275
YPC: 15.0
TD's: 2
Long: 79

Receiver 3:

Catches: 135
Yards: 2497
YPC: 18.5
TD's: 18
Long: 66

Juju, Brown and Rice.

I'm not so quick to give AB credit for this.....Why? JUJU has been a hard working kid his whole life. Maybe just maybe, JUJU has the drive inside of himself & wants to surpass his rival....

I want to say it was a combination of good WR coaching, Ward and Brown's influence, and Juju's drive.
