By Matt Papiernik, @Matt_Papiernik on Twitter SteelerNation.com   In case you didn’t see my previous articles, I am going to be publishing several articles breaking down the contracts, performance, and likelihood that certain players will be members of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020. Now that the off-season is in full view for the team, there […]

Nice rite up Matt and I think they bring in a punter for competition but ultimately Berry is kept. I'd like to see a stronger leg as they are out there and for less money as well. Put the heat on the scouting department dang-IT.

If you cut him, you save 1.8M per article but you have to replace him so just swag 800k for a savings of about 1m. Doesn't seem like a lot but with our cap situation and the potential for an uncapped year next year it is really hard to predict. Problem I have is I just don't think the guy is worth the money at this point. He isn't booming them and doesn't seem to pin other teams back very often (although I would have to look at stats...I admit I am guessing from memory). He is consistent I guess and word used to be he had such good hangtime. I just think we can get better for less. But what do I know?

I can't sleep thinking about how they're going to handle the punter situation.

If only we hadn't given away that first round pick.

Last year's ST ranked 27th. This year is ranked 9th. It's deceptive between the two but it's coaching that is problem. True last year Boz was terrible and contributed to the rank as opposed to this year contributing to the rank. It's the coachable part of STs that has me worried to the coaching ability.

These numbers are all arrived by a long complicated process using many factors including weather / stadium / wind / etc. will show PITTS' in comparison to high and lowest ranked

..............FG / XP........Kick.......KReturn........Punt...........Punt Return

PITT..........10.7..........5.5...........-5.8.............-9.5............5.9

Highest......14.0.........6.6............8.7.............12.2.............17.0

Lowest........-15.......-13.9.......-7.1..........-18.2..........-6.9

Like I said there is quite a formula to how they arrive at these numbers but when using them as a comparison
It shows you where they are compared to highest and losest teams scores.

Kick return and punt return are very coachable either scheme / technique / coaching up and our STs coach needs help.

Berry was having a fantastic year until he got crushed on that miscommunicated fake punt debacle. He's the guy you go into 2020 with.
