John Fox sticking by Mike Glennon as Bears' starting QB after flop vs. Bucs

TAMPA – This was Mike Glennon’s chance to return and show up his former team.

Instead, Glennon, now the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears, committed three turnovers – including a pick-six – in the first half and directed an ineffective offensive showing in a 29-7 loss Sunday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After the game, Bears head coach John Fox indicated that Glennon would remain the team’s starter going forward.

“No, I don’t think anybody, without even seeing the tape yet, that you can pin that on the quarterback,” Fox said when asked if there could be a quarterback change for next week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. “Like I said earlier, everybody had their hand in that.”

good news, I think

I wouldn't mind facing another rookie. Gotta hope the good Steelers show up Sunday

This is just a reminder again not to get too excited about our defense.

Just like last year, we padded our stats against some pretty bad quarterbacks. And that is starting again this year.

Kizer - Keenum - Glennon. That's a pretty ****** list.

AFC is lacking good QB's right now. Like I predicted earlier. This season SHOULD have 12-4 written all over it. Just too many bad QB's on the schedule not to take advantage of it and win a lot of games.

This same defense that didn't get a sack until what week last year? I'm noticing big differences with Haden and Burns as our 2 corners. Most of the plays we are giving up are in zone coverage in the middle of the field in the passing game. The front 7 are holding their own with the run game. Losing Watt for however long he's gone will hurt. I noticed them switching Watt and Dupree to opposite sides. We're also running some CB and S blitzes overloading sides. The defense is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

I think our offense is still working through the kinks before they get rolling.

Bears believe LB Nick Kwiatkoski is out for season

The Bears placed linebacker Jerrell Freeman on injured reserve last week after he suffered a pectoral injury in the team’s opening game of the season and moved Nick Kwiatkoski into the starting lineup in his place against the Bucs in Week Two.

It looks like they’re going to need someone to replace Kwiatkoski with the first team next week. Kwiatkoski left Sunday’s game with a pectoral injury of his own and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team believes it will bring his season to an end. An MRI is set as doctors work to confirm that prognosis.

Linebacker isn’t the only spot where the Bears are starting to run a bit thin. They saw guards Josh Sitton and Tom Compton leave with injuries on Sunday and they started the day without Kyle Long, which forced them to shuffle the pieces up front on offense while they were doing the same on defense.

Sack the heck out of big bird.

LETS HOPE WE DON'T FALL PRAY TO EASY GAME, WE DON'T DO WELL UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS. lET THE DEFENSE PLAY AGGRESSIVE AND OFFENSE MOVE THE BALL, NOT EVERY PLAY NEEDS TO BE FAR AND DEEP.

loud noises!

Playing in Chicago is not an easy task. Got to play smart and should be able to handle them in the fashion of the Vikes.

I think it's a positive that we're not giving **** QBs career games against us this year, so far...

Glennon killed us a few years ago tho when he was with Tampa. If we have to play these bad QBs, I'm glad the defense looks like it has so far, rather than how it has looked in the past

Yeah but it was Glennon who led Tbay into Pitt three years ago and got a W as a 10 point plus dog.

I am going on record to say our playing down and losing to inferior teams is done with this years version.

Write it down and quote me.

I'll take it. In recent years this defense has been burned by some of these bums playing QB, including losing to a couple of rookies last year.

I'll second that as JUST WATCH THE GAMES !!!!! Our "D" is nothing like last year's or years past. The only similarity is the aged out Dick L. Assistant that turned DC for us. If you haven't noticed our guys are getting after it and succeeding. Even if it's just a rookie back there we are still going through their veterain OL. ****.

Salute the nation

Go get his tots!

Well I'm just glad we got a punter.

Did u see Winger for the Giants snap his ankles and faceplant that whiffed tackle kick return TD against the Lions last night? truly a spectacle for the ages
