Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden has been a name often brought up when referring to potential salary cap casualties. He put an end to that on Twitter tonight.

I predict they don’t. https://t.co/pZ9QOgXf71

Clayton who joined 93.7 the fan in Pittsburgh predicted that the Steelers could release Haden and linebacker Vince Williams to help get under the salary cap. By releasing Haden the Steelers would only have Justin Layne, Steven Nelson, and James Pierre left from last year’s 53 man roster.

That doesn’t seem like something they would want to do.

Never say never, but we will roll with Hadens word on this one. It won’t be a surprise to see an extension for Haden to help free up cap space.

Thanks Justin

I'd venture to say he is NOT a cap casualty either. I just hope they get some of these restructures done so as we can start retaining some of our own. Mike Hilton and Cam Sutton come to mind for secondary help.

The Steelers have proven to everyone including themselves that they cannot draft and develop DB's so it would be best to keep the ones they got from other teams.

Careful, there, Joe. Ol Tombert might see your comment and be like. . .

I think Nelson could be the odd man out.
Nah man he looks good in black n gold, I prefer he stay. Plus his play isn't dropping off. Not to mention Steelers have nobody to replace Haden or Nelson.

Haden has been terrific for the Steelers. It feels like he's played here his entire career. He's also right at the age where cornerback play begins to fall off and the Steelers have two young, talented cornerbacks about to hit free agency. Too many young talented young guys are walking away.

Restructure is what i see coming.

EDIT: Both Nelson and Haden restructure because they are are BEST 2 CBs we got.

They can't restructure, they are free agents after this season, they could extend them both to lower their cap hit this season, but not sure how long or how much you extend and pay Haden with his age.
