He may have a lot of similarities to BELL but HOLDING out isn't one of them.............................

He seems like a smart man and smells an opportunity. Get signed get in learn the playbook and compete for Bells early season and preseason playing time. Getting in early will get him a nice head start.

Slash, what do you see outa this guy? Will he make the team and how integral will he be??? Will he take Jamnes Conner's touches away?? Is he able to be a 3-down back?? BELL is due to miss some games this year, weather it be wear and tear or he inhales some of his "rapper" friend's smoke................. Just curious on your take.

Shifty , has good field awareness. Natural hand catcher. I think you can slot him with Bell on the field and have some interesting options. I think he is a capable runner. And can break some runs due to his shiftiness. But I think he is more of a move the chains guy than a burner. But that is ok, because he seems quite capable of moving the chains in the passing or running game. Like JC I think his pass blocking will need work. I don't think they used him a lot in that capacity. One play I saw him lunge his body in front of the blocker ineffectively, although he seemed to get there late. I think he can do the job as a blocker, you know just will be a work in progress.

I could see him taking some of Conner's touches sure. I think barring injury he has a decent enough talent to stick. And because he can play multiple positions he will find himself onto the field sooner than say a pure RB that needs to work on blocking. BUT even the Steelers WRs are expected to block. So I will be looking at that aspect of his game in training camp. Haven't heard/read any negative press on him, so I think we are safe off the field.

Ultimately he might be looked at next year to ease the loss of Bell, provided he isn't retained.

You could throw Conner in as a 1 2 down and then JaySam on 3rd. With drafting another RB in say round 1 or 2.

Usually late round picks are iffy to make the roster, but I would be surprised if this one didn't.

Thanks slash and I appreciate the break down. My hopes is he does make an impact early in the season and lightens BELL's load to where we don't have to worry of resigning BELL. Currently today I feel this is absolutely Bell's last year as a STEELERS player. Things can change but I don't see a broken down RB being in our future as His high work load is catching up sooner rather than later.

I will add, the Steelers did not draft a slot receiver to replace Eli, which they needed to do with him probably not being able to participate in training camp, and IMHO may be PUPed.

Though after reviewing a lot of what JaySam does, he has a lot of slot experience in college. Probably lined up there more than he lined up in the backfield. We may have got our new slot receiver who is position flexible, and able to throw more wrinkles into the offensive game plan. I'm all for it if he can handle the duties.

Coincidently, I also had a lot of slot experience in college, if ya know what I'm saying.... (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say know more...)

You do know what I'm saying, don't ya?
