Jaylen Warren 2-year extension

Tomlin called Warren the “featured runner”. He went from 149 carries in 2023 to only 120 last year. Combined, that’s still 76 fewer carries than Saquon got last year as the “featured runner” in Philly, 56 fewer than Henry.

No idea what he’s thinking here.
I think we know that Warren would never get the same amount of carries as Barkley or Henry. Few backs do. Obviously Harris was “ the featured back” the last few years. I would say a quite high percentage of this board ( including me) have critiqued Harris for most of his career, and thought Warren, with his play deserved to be “featured back”. It might be a case of be careful for what you wish for,but Warren definitely earned his spot, and I look forward to seeing what he can do as #1. Shall be interesting to see his total touches at the end of the season.

Guy deserves every dollar. Will be interesting to see how it goes this year with him and Johnson. Johnson looks good with the ball but his undoing will be pass protection. After watching all of his preseason tape he seems to be in a hurry in a negative way, but shows good vision. Probably just jitters.
His best trait imo is once he is up to speed. He looks like a long strider, smooth runner with great long speed.
Warren looks more explosive but Kaleb may have better top end?
It is hard for me to see a world where Johnson gets the bulk of the carries unless he car learn to protect and catch the ball out of the backfield, even if he shows to be the better pure runner. I also don't believe that to be the case, but we also have not seen nearly enough volume vs starters to even guess. we'll find out.
I could see Johnson coming out an playing as advertised, I also see a world where he gets benched if he falls out of favor with Rodgers. All it would take is 1 blown assignment and a bad sack to get on Rodgers sh*tlist.
I'll bet part of the deal when Aaron came here was a good amount of say in the offense.
The most concerning to me is the Arthur Smith offense, even moreso than the O'line.
Every great RB he has ever coached fared better under a different scheme and coordinator, even 5 years later in Derrick Henry's case. Then you have Bijan, London and even Pitts who all elevated their game significantly after Arthur Smith was fired.

I don’t think he will get as many touches as some think. First he doesn’t have that makeup that resume. Second I think his hands are only good not great as far as ball security. More carries mean more they wear him down and more opportunities to Spindenfall his way to an oops.

i wonder about him and johnson and their 2 styles.

They are very different. How do they platoon them and run the same plays.?
I think we are gonna see a lot more from gainwell than generally expected, for better or worse
