Rewatched the game in Dec at Heinz. What a shitshow. Thrilling. Sure. But it really laid out the gameplan for The Jags. And I dont care if it Evans or Van Esche. If you dont think they need to draft ILB, watch that debacle. They friggen ran a power lead right all game. It was there all night. Second part you see is the unbelievable stupidity of the coaching staff. Leaving them 46 seconds was completly unnessasary. They had a decent gain on a first down run. Their kicker was clutch. Totally outthinking yourself. Macklin was about 5 inches from a catch along the sideline that likely sets up a game winner.

Well the two starters signed in free agency will help solve that problem. But would not be shocked at all to see the first pick a ILBer.

Shoot they were on display against the Bears WITH Shazier in the lineup. We were fish out of water against power teams without Shazier. Agreed we need to load up at LB. Not just ILB

Yes, ILB but also a designated NT might help. I'm talking a three down NT that can demand a double team every play and **** the coaching staff who call the ****** up ****** ******* licking muthA ******* two DL set.

This defense hasn't been able to consistently stop the run since Big Snack retired.

Don't we play a different type of defense now? Big Snack is history. We moved on from him. You might as well say we don't generate the sacks we use to from our OLDers. Or tackle as well as our defense did in the past. How about we don't get as many INT's as we did in years gone by..or TO's. Why stop with the Snack in comparison of what we can and can not do anymore?

Tomlin tries to run a finesse defense. It doesn't work well. Cower ran a brute force defense. We, the fans, can see the difference.

I think it will take more than one draft to make this defense a powerhouse.

Different ERA, yes I said it, a different ERA. Even though it's such a short time span it is a TOTALY DIFFERENt ERA. Rules changes / defense handcuffed / all passing / offense favored league have changed it. Helmet crown tackling will be the end of defense as we know it. It's the defensive player who will be penalized even when the offensive player ducks into the hit. Cohwer D vs Tomlin D same arguement as Bradshaw vs Rothlesberger ONLY difference is Ben is by far a better QB.

mclendon was better vs the run than Hargrave, Hargrave is a tweener 43 DL in between a 3 T and edge rusher, we need Tim Settle watching him play and his size reminds me of a young Casey before he got over 360 LBS, him and Nnandi are the 2 top NT, I would take in the mid rounds as both command a a double team. the only thing Butler has changed is he wants multi purpose DL not just fat trucks that just eat up space but pentetrate that is why I think they opted for Hargrave. Butler and tomlin need to watch some footage between 08-10 when casey was still good, not elite but still in decline got the job done, if you want to use hargrave beef him up or use a 4 DL front with him teamed with heyward at the nose and have Chickello at RE and have heyward and Hargrave run some twists or just penetrate and have vince come off the cross blitz behind heyward.
Round 1 Van Esche/Evans
rnd 2 S Reid/ Harrison
rnd 3 NT Settle/Nnandi
rnd 4 best edge rusher
5 A P Scott 5 B OT Spain
7 A KR 7 B OG

Bostic is coming off his best season in a fairly uneventful career. They need a stud.

I agree with this. HOWEVER. People play better with better people around them. IDK how good lambert and ham would have been if they didn't have that steel curtain in front of them.. Just an example.

Colts defense has been ****.

Hope this new defensive back coach can teach something to Burns, he was burned to many times in the Baltimore game and poor tackling gave up a lot of extra yards.

They didn't move on, he got old and they haven't been able to find an adequate replacement. I don't need to look any further than NT to see the problem with the run D; it all starts up front and there has been a hole in the middle since 2013. The rest of your rant is irrelevant to the subject, they're not having consistent problems with pressure or takeaways.

We ask our DE's to generate pressure now. We have our OLBer's dropping into coverage almost all the time. This defensive scheme is night and day compared to the defense of old. Just a fact. If you can't see that then you are not looking too hard.

Hard to generate pressure with you Dline when you're using 2 DL on passing downs

All the 2DL set does is give the other team time to pick apart the "D" and usually results in a first down. Blitzing off that 2DL set is rediculous and the blitzer usually is double teamed..................................................................FuckEty ****

Teams can double our ends, then use their OT to pick up the rushing OLB, and if the O leaves a TE or RB into block, then both our DEs and OLB are double teamed.
Eagles, Vikings, Rams, and teams that give NE trouble all rush 4 guys( mostly Dlinemen) the majority of snaps.
We need another good NT then we can go with Heyward, Hargrave, Tuitt with AluAlu, Walton, new NT rotating along the DLIne and use Watt-Dupree as your fourth pass rusher

Well now that proper form tackling is an absolute essential I suppose you need a guy to teach it. I'd start in ota's, mini camp and training camp.

What's Jack Lambert doing? I'd figure he's still near my home town of Kittanning. That man had perfect form....haha. Bm

The team tackles like ****. Just that improvement alone will win some games regardless of who they draft. Which I figure round 1 LB or DE. Round 2 a RB.

.

cant wait to see what "form tackling" looks like from here out. No more "head across the bow" that's leading with your head.

there was an adjustment that butler and Tomlin finally made after it was 14-0 they abandon the 2-4-5 and used 3-3-5 and 3-2-6with Gay under as a rover. If we get Van Esche and say Reid a set we should try is a cover 2 with Van Eshe or Watt as the MLB that drops the 4 man rushing are
DE Dupree
DT Hargrave
DT Heyward
DE Aluala
