IDF spokesperson Maj. Gen. Moti Almoz says IDF hit thousands of targets in first stage of Operation Protective Edge and will continue in its mission during the second phase.

“Large numbers of ground troops are heading to their objectives in the Gaza Strip,” he says, about an hour after troops first entered the Strip.

The IDF operation will expand as necessary, and the troops are highly motivated, he adds.

He calls on Gaza residents to evacuate homes near where IDF troops are operating.

Israeli PM to military: "Take off the gloves"

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the heads of his security agencies at the Kirya base in Tel-Aviv for consultations. He instructed the commanders to "take off the gloves" in their fight against Hamas.

"Hamas chose escalation and it will pay a heavy price for it," said the Israeli leader.

The army said its offensive, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge," was aimed at striking Hamas and ending the rocket fire that has intensified in recent weeks

Now the Israelis know how to light up the sky.

Interestingly enough, Egypt is agreeing with them.

My neighbor from Jordan thinks they should kill them all.

I saw an article blasting Israel for its bombing of Hamas. "Most of the Hamas rockets fell harmlessly to the ground", well what if they didn't fall harmlessly? The rest of the world seems pissed that Israel is better at this fighting stuff than its neighbors. Ok, so the neighbors should stop poking the better fighter with a stick.

My solution to the Middle East has always been to let Israel off the leash and enjoy the show.

Gee, I thought Obama with his amazing diplomacy was supposed to bring peace love and harmony to the world. Seems like everything's going to total ****. Could it be because no one fears the U.S. anymore and thus we have become completely irrelevant? Naaah....

One thing Israel messed up on is that they are starting a fight over there with Big Brother currently led by a plea-bargaining, spineless *****.

Hope they aren't counting on us to help out, if they need it. It's a long time till Bomma's term is up.

I wish he was just a spineless *****, or an inept clown. All of these messes are purposeful.

Anyone know what that says?
Don't know what it says, but it portrays the Israeli soldier in front of the woman and child, and the Hamas fighter using the two as a shield.

Egypt blames Hamas for IDF's ground offensive

The Egyptian foreign minister said Thursday that Hamas is at fault for the IDF's need to enter Gaza in a ground operation.

"Had Hamas accepted the Egyptian proposal, it could have saved the lives of at least 40 Palestinians," said Sameh Shoukri, Egypt's FM, as reported by Egyptian state news agency MENA.

Hamas wanted this to happen - in fact they are counting on their dead human shield children to be used as photo ops in a propaganda war.

it's not working - the whole region says Hamas knew what would happen when it started raining down missiles on Israel
