Wow. So tombert knows Archer sucks. They won't let him play rb (thankfully). And would rather have a nobody come in to back up Deangelo.

Sorry. It's Pead.

Isn't Ahmad Bradshaw still out there or Knowshon Moreno? Heck, we picked up Vick what's wrong with throwing a flyer at Ray Rice (I'll be hiding behind my desk after that one).

Bradshaw is back with the Colts, Moreno is however still out there.

Bring in everyone, there should be a dozen backs out there to choose from...and I don't care what the Bucs said, they can be persuaded....make an offer for Doug Martin

hell, make an offer for Forte - if his knee isn't too bad.

why Pead?

RB Pead goes unclaimed on waivers following release from Rams

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Pead was the victim of a numbers game in a crowded backfield after this year's first-round pick, Todd Gurley, made his season debut

Fisher praised Pead's work ethic for battling back from a torn ACL that cost him the entire 2014 season and left the door open for Pead to return if the team needed him down the road.

Moreno, Monte Ball, Pierre Thomas. Thomas would be my choice.

Why is Dri Archer on the team again?

Archer just doesn't pan out for this team. Makes too much sense to get another RB on the roster. It sucks that there isn't much to choose from at this juncture.

This is ridiculous.

Archer's just got to go. I'm sorry. You're literally digging guys up off their mother's couch. C'mon. How bad does it have to get before a guy can admit a mistake. I'm sorry Dri. I'm sure you're a great guy and that somebody can make use of you. There has GOT to be an offensive system for you but clearly our coordinator doesn't have any idea how to use you. (And I'm not trying to be critical of Haley here, I'm just saying Archer doesn't fit in his system obviously.)

Let Archer GO!

Lord. C'mon!

Frickin' Ridiculous.

Now I have to go make a "Wig Hates Stuff" post about one of my own. I HATE that!

I'm not a Dri fan, but I don't see what signing Pead has to do with releasing Archer. It's not like they brought Archer up of the practice squad and then signed Pead. Archer was already on the roster and Bell to IR means there is a spot to be filled. If they were going to let Dri go, the time was long before this injury to Bell.

Good point. There are two separate issues here. Archer's merits (and please God, let there be another 180 page thread-I will go to church every week if You make it happen) are one issue, the roster spot is a separate issue.

I don't like this pick up. Pead never panned out in St. Louis, he is small (5'10"/200lbs), and he's damaged goods. He tore his ACL returning kicks. This is an exert from one of the many articles I read today about him. None of which were glowing endorsements for this guy.

"With the 50th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Rams drafted Isaiah Pead, a running back who was fast and possessed a little power. Pead never lived up to the hype, losing his position to 7th-round selection Daryl Richardson in the same draft. Pead has never made an impact running the ball in his career for the Rams."

So why him? Cheap and sitting on his couch? If that is the case, then is the FO saying we are throwing in the towel for this season and just trying to fill an empty roster spot? IDK, and I just don't understand the signing when there are a handful of guys out there with a much stronger NFL pedigree. We need to win the next 6 of 8 to make a wildcard push, and if D Williams gets hurt we are one dimensional.

Boy I hope I am wrong about this guy, but all indicators point to a terrible pick. I will publicly apologize, on here of course, if this dude is a stud. I hope I get to say "sorry"

There aren't any running backs available at this point in the season that don't have flaws or aren't damaged goods. Finding a stud at this point in the season is finding a needle in a haystack. Realistically, the Steelers aren't going to find anything better than what they already have.

D'Angelo Williams is a stud. He probably has darn near as many yards as Bell. (I'm not suggesting he's as good as Bell, calm down.) He'll do fine in reserve duty.

Assuming he can stay upright for the rest of the season he's a GREAT pickup! Good attitude, hard runner, great work ethic, happy to be here. I like him.

What kind of offer would you expect them to make -- all the teams would want some draft pick compensation. Just think what we gave up for Boykin (barely on the team) and Scobee (yeah, how'd that turn out).
