The topic of Le’Veon Bell‘s contract has been a sore subject for quite a long time now, spanning well before this past season even had it’s first practice. Regardless if you are on the side of the Steelers, who are trying to be as cost effective as possible, or on the side of Bell, who […]

I have a feeling they are far apart. The Steelers have a number and so does Bell. Will they meet in the middle?

worst case trade for picks and use those picks to fill the voids at S and a possible replacement RB or get 2 picks use 1 on a ILB the other package with our pick to move up to get Vita Vea which would solve our DL issues, with him you can start him at NT and use a 4 man nickel and dime front where he can easily kick out to DE and you bring in Hargrave asa 3T and rotate Heyward and Tuitt as the 1T.

Ive watched this team for I dont know how long and keenly watched many difficult negotiations including Bettis last contract, Ward and AB. I believe the team is negotiating 100 percent in good faith to reach a fair market value for an amazing player. If that aint good enough, **** em. Tag and trade.

Since I had a few of them, someone else should start the next trade Bell thread,

It looks like the hand writing is on the wall...

I nominate Ike Kelly. Sign and Trade, Ike?

He will be signed or tagged. Not traded, not allowed to test free agency.

there is no way colbert and art II are stupid enough to not tag him,

He'll be tagged, pissed off about it, and go elsewhere next year. We have too many other good players to pay. Don't want to end up like the Ratbirds where one player sucks up half the cap money and they can't afford to put other good players around him.

but, but, but what about Cleveland?

1-31 in their past 32 games. #26 is from Ohio, and acts like a. _ _ _ _ well you fill in the blank. . Cleveland has the largest amount of cap space I ever saw.

There's a match to be made here.

Guys, you cannot trade a player who does not sign the franchise tag. You just cannot do that. If he holds out signing until a week before the season, then no way you can trade him.

He still has to sign. I think he will sign and be the usual distraction,

If he sits out, and becomes a free agent next year with another team, expect a 3rd round comp pick as long as our other free agents additions and subtractions are the same.

To clarify, can you work out a trade with another team? We sign him then trade to you type of scenario?

I think if he sits out then the year doesn't count and he can still be tagged by the Steelers. I think we got an extra year out of Martavius because of his suspension.

We can sign him and trade him to another team who works out an extension ahead of time to keep Smokey happy but I think they still have to give us a first round pick. I think that's more of a sticking point for another team than the money.

Lets say a team wants him. They have plenty of cap room like San Francisco and would prefer to use a pick on another piece. Couldnt the Steelers say San Fran wants you. See if their contract language suits you. Then sign our tag and we trade you.

Unfortunately Bell has all the power here

If we sign him to a long term deal we will be cap strapped and have trouble improving the D
If we tag him we will be overpaying and also can not afford much help elsewhere
If we let him walk we are letting one of the best RBs go for nothing.
If we tag him he can sit out over half the season, come back for a few games, and then be gone next year.

Best case would be to sign him to a longer term deal with the promise he will be traded.

I honestly say just let him walk. We can win w/o Bell, but we will not win with a soft porous D. He is not worth the $$ he wants let him go collect his $$ and rot on a crappy team.

Team seems to have no wiggle room this season-mind you almost every important player is signed except Bell. Then in 2019 there is a 54 million cap room.

His twitter now has a Steeler probowl picture as a background.

Next conspiracy theory !

to the pit of misery!! Dilly dilly!

Bell Browns Bye Bye...

Such the Pavlov dog.....when you hear Bell, you go straight for it.

There needs to be a trade partner, whom the Steelers will accept compensation. Which will be 2 1st round picks. It’s collectively bargained. Bell has leverage on the tag. Steelers has leverage on the compensation. So if a team is interested, they give up not only 2 premium picks but also they have to pay an exorbitant contract on a RB who is midway through his second contract (two tags).

Bell has already shown he would sit out till the beginning of the season if tagged. FA begins second week in March. That means a little over a month to find a willing trade partner, who may want one of the rookies who will be available who is cheaper and will cost only 1 first rounder.

The only hand writing I see is your infatuation with yourself. IF a trade/sign occurs....you will spout off....”see I was correct!!!”. If there is no trade and Bell plays under the tag...it will be “Tomlin is an idiot” “Colbert doesn’t know how to GM”.....my God in heaven...you must have a full size cut out of yourself that you admire in your bedroom.

two first round picks. The up coming draft and then the next year's draft both first round and timed upon the trade. He has to sign the tag but he could hold out until week 10 then play to make it a contractual year. If he holds out full year or doesn't sign, then we still get next year or until he fills his contractual responsibility. I don't see him signing early as he won't give the STEELERS the courtesy. I think his asking price is to much $$$$ for the STEELERS and still upgrade the "D". Don't upgrade the "D" and you won't go any further than last year,.....with Bell. It's a tough decision but I hope it is made and what ever it is it plays out a good one.
