If the Steelers want to trade Bell the following teams have 15 or more million in cap space

Browns
Colts
49ers
Titans
Texans
Bears
Jets
Jaguars
Bills

I'd trade Me"von for a first round pick to the Colts, Browns or Jets and be done with him. This will likely give us a top 10 pick in the 2019 draft.

When Bell walks in 2019, the best we will get is a compensatory pick, likely a 3rd or 4th round pick depending on how much the Steelers spend in free agency.

I say worry about next year, next year. Let's go all in to win it now. I just don't have the confidence in our other backs to pick up the slack.
But ya, other than that winning thing, **** Bell.

I don't see any team trading draft picks for Bell when he will be a free agent after the year. It would have to be a team that is a RB shy of a SB this season, otherwise it makes no sense to give up a draft pick on a player that you can get in free agency after the season.

Not going to happen! The Steelers want this super bowl and having Bell brings us closer to achieving that goal in 2018.
If he can help us get that #7 then **** him next year.
We can then address the starting RB position in the draft and F/A.

Bell is here one more year. Move onto a different subject Coach. I'm sure you have a few topics you have been holding back on....now is the time to use them. :)

Well he has not been a factor in the playoffs. Like I said before Williams past his prime and dirt cheap ran the ball equally as well for us. Hence, Bell's value is over rated.

This is not going to end well for the Steelers. I don't want a comp pick for him, I want better compensation and cap space.

If we can find a trade for a first round pick to a bad team like the Colt, Jets, or Browns, I say do it. Keeping Bell for a season only makes sense if we win a super bowl, don't you agree?

It's not going to happen even if Conner and Samuels look great in the pre--season. Bell still gives them the best chance to win the SB this year. With that said, if someone was dumb enough to give us a first rounder for a guy on the tag, I would take it in a heart beat.

You are probably not going to get better compensation. I don't think a team will give up a 1st and pay Bell $15-17 million. They may pay that if he's an FA and don't have to give up anything. I am curious if another team will pay that for a running back. We'll see, I guess.

I wonder if Bell and his agent can gauge interest around the league, if they are allowed since he didn't sign yet. Let's say the Jets, for example, are willing to pay to his demands. I guess he could sign the tender, get traded, and then sign a new deal. Or is that a no go for anyone now since the deadline passed? I still don't think they'd get a 1st. But then I didn't ever think they'd get a 3rd for Bryant, either.

All I wish that Tomlin and Colbert would have some guts and speak up at Bell's actions. Bell has not produced in the play offs and what will be his mind set this year. Piss on the Steelers or I better have a great year to get what I want some where else. Either way his mind won't be on winning. This teams time is running short and we still don't have a defense that has proven it can get off the field on third down. Inside how can the players on this team not look at Bell in a favorable light, they are busting their butts at training camp and Bel
the chump comes whenever he decides to show up and starts no matter what shape or what he has missed under a new offensive coordinator direction.

**** tomorrow, there is NO tomorrow - THIS YEAR is all that matters. We got at the most two years left with Ben.

He needs all his weapons THIS YEAR.

Only Madden tards would even think about trading him.

Who was the dominant back on the each of the Super Bowl contestants last year?

And believe me when I say, I never played stupid Madden in my life.

The Steelers won’t trade him. Unfortunately, he will be a cancer in the locker room, probably cancer on the field when we need him and likely gives us no opportunity to win a super bowl as long as he’s on the team. I’d trade him for a 3rd and conditional 1st depending on playing time and stats maybe a 2020 1st. But never gonna happen...

I am curious why not give him the lesser tag next year? What would that cost at that point? And if a team signs him I think the team gets a 1st rounder?

Someone feel free to refresh my memory.

I say yank the tag, make him want to sit out this year. I hope that James Summers makes the starting lineup.

The thing about a TRADE is you have to have a team willing to trade. With the start of the season looming and BELL being a FA end of season it would be hard fetch to get a trade partner yet alone a 1st round trade partner. I'm sure Kevin C. Has discussed these options thoroughly with the Rooney's. I bet KC has even talked to the team's you have mentioned just to feel it out. Remeber it takes BELL to agree and that is what probably was the hold up. Obviously the STEELERS can't do **** about him as he is not under contract. For those of you "geniousEs" that say pull the tag when he signs it are freaking nuts as you would get absolutely nothing. As is, the STEELERS did the BEST that could be done. Let him walk at the end of the year. I hope for a VERY high productive injury free season for him and a CHAMPIONSHIP for the team & fans.

Salute the nation

$17 plus mill. Bell's asking price now.

Well he has not been a factor in the playoffs. [\QUOTE]

Really now?.......a non factor against Miami and KC in 2016? Last season vs Jax?

Your powers of observation are in perfect form....again.

The only other tag that would be lessor is the transition tag. If another team matches it, Steelers get nothing in return. For the Tag number I think Bouchette said it would be 14.7 or something close.

Regular franchise tag would be same as exclusive except you give up 2 1sts. Franchise tag number next year something like 17.3. No way he’s getting that from Pitt.

Another thing, IF a team was to trade for Bell, they can’t negotiate an extension this year. Bell goes FA after 2018 season. So no guarantee from Bell (he would be crazy to if he did) to the team who traded for him.

A third franchise for Bell is well above 17 million. You might want to check that out.

The Steelers already made it clear Bell isn’t getting 17 million a year. He’s holding out from camp....again.

Some of those teams have a lot of cap space to pay Bell for this year and beyond.

Trading Bell now would be insane. The only way it could even be considered is if the trade ended up with the steelers getting back David Johnson, Todd Gurley, Zeke Elliott, or Saquon Barkley,

I don't understand this notion that you have to "get something" for a player that likely won't re-sign next season. If it's a backup or a role player, i get it. But a key starter? Makes no sense at all.

What do you get for Bell. How about a chance to win the Super Bowl?

Bell is more than a RB. I don't give a **** if another RB can can replicate Bell's rushing stats. What they can't do is replicate his effect on the pass game.

Transition tag next year would be 20% more, so roughly 17M and some change. You get no FA compensation pick, you only get chance to match.

Franchise tax amount is either the something like the highest of 144% of this year's amt or the QB tag(or whatever the highest tag is), and it's easily going to be 25M+.

I think that some RBs could replicate Bell in the passing game if given the chance. The problem is the Steelers do not use players efficiently. Also you have to forget about the stats. Removing Bell and his distractions may have a positive effect that no stats could replicate. I know at my job one co-worker can bring the whole morale of the building down. If that person leaves or quits the whole atmosphere of the workplace changes. Its hard to say how other players really feel about Bell, but I would bet anything more than a few resent him for rejecting the deal and not having to put in the work at training camp. That alone could cause heavy tension
