Was all the back shoulder fade jump balls the offense or Ben? Purely off memory of watching almost every snap but I'm gonna say less than 20 percent were grip it and rip it 9 routes and less than 5 percent were between the hash marks. That needs to be fixed

Here’s a sample of some of Trubisky’s deep shots. I like his placement. Appears to have a couple thrown short but good receiver adjustments helped. Quite a few looked like they were in the turkey hole where they needed to be. We know what Mason can do and has done.

I like how he can put air under it and throw it deep on a rope when needed.

I was thinking of this just the other day as well. How much was Ben’s physical limitations and how much was it Canadas system. I hope (now) it was Ben cause it was painful to watch. The get rid of the ball in .5 nano seconds wasn’t working. I don’t need an air raid offense, I can be entertained by a power running game watching lineman dominate. But damn…. the last few years aren’t what we were accustomed to since Ben was drafted.

I don’t remember Ben hitting guys in stride much over the past couple of years. I think really when AB was on the team was when he last did it with the 90+ yard touchdowns to Juju

I really think it was more Ben. He was looking like that in 2020 before Canada.

There is a lot I am interested in seeing about the pass game. I am definitely interested in seeing the deep ball improve, but that comes as part of being really interested in seeing the entirety of the field used again. Not sure if it was Ben, Canada or both, but whether short, medium or long we did *not* use the middle of the field at all. Everything was to one side or another. Add inconsistent (at best) deep throws, and our passing was substantially limited to short and medium passes to the left and right with most being of the short variety.

Using the entire field (all of the middle, plus more mid and deep left and right) is the key.

Just ran across this preseason clip from last year’s preseason against the Bears. Very good fundamental football. Took what was given to him. I liked his escape for a big gain. Yeah- it’s a preseason clip but still.
