I am not much for conspiracy theories. But this new helmet rule makes me wonder.

You have a ****** up catch rule in place which seemingly seems to favor one team. Fans show outrage, and in the off-season they tweak it.

Subsequently they create a helmet rule which is showing hit and miss enforcement in preseason. This rule a player can even be ejected.

Would he be such the shocker that a ejection happens against a team playing the asterisks?

Call it what you may......... crazy, etc.

But I find the timing curious.

I think it's all bullshit. That rule is a game changer. Every single ******* hit people will be holding their breath to see if it was flagged. Two guys running at full speed one lowers his shoulder to meet the other guy who is changing levels or diving as well. Absolutely no ******* way this is going to come out well. None. Zero. Nadda. Just be prepared to be really pissed off .

Let's put every play under review. Review the all 22 and call every penalty. Along the way we can make up new vague calls. The NFL can add 364 new commercials to the broadcast. That way they can recoup the money they are going to lose for ******* up a great sport.

All they've done is make it impossible for the fan to understand the game and make it unwatchable.

Favoritism may well be rampant this season and there's nothing you or I can anything about it, other than turn it off.

Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that.

I work with an NFL referee and even he said they are going to have work it out as they go.

I think the rule has good intention, but it's going to be a lot of work to enforce and monitor. Like anything else, going to require time and evaluation for change or keeping it around.

I think the rule is just too difficult to evenly enforce, or even get it right half the time. Players moving as fast as they do, **** happens quick. They will **** this one up, bad rule.

All the rules need to be black and white, so anyone seeing it knows it.

What the league is doing now is way too gray and subject to individual interpretation, and will result in a cluster ****.

I'd be okay if the was a 2 step rule on using your helmet.

Exactly - that’s the biggest problem. The rules that always get them in trouble are the ones that leave too much to interpretation. I think they *attempted* to make this one black and white but it’s still going to be a failure

If I'm an offensive guy I'd be working these rules to manipulate the desired outcome of a free 15 yards.

over / under on the number of pats games influenced by the new rule is 5

Since the Patriots play 16 regular season games, I'm going over.

Definately the "FIX" is in. It's way to coincidental the the NFL simplified the rule they used to controls the outcome of games and then PUT ANOTHER just as confusing rule back into the game. The "BIG" money is just to big to be left unminipulated and BIG MONEY won't risk an outcome without some means of control. Color me BLACK & GOLD and call me crazy but if you think for one moment this is an HONEST ABE league then you might be the crazy one.

My first thought when i heard this rule was mark the pats down for 3 regular season and 1 post-season wins due to a helmet call at a key moment.

I'll take under but not by much. I was thinking 3 to 4 games, but wouldn't wager on this one.

They'll be talking about how amazing all of these wins are year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year. Scrub magic.
