How do they fix the middle?

I guess Dirty Red should come back. They have to get something out of Fort maybe in passing downs. They cant play defense like that. It was a joke. Spence pretty much looked how he did when he was here and pretty clear why he was on tge street. Gonna have to figure this out.
 
I always thought Fort had a lot of promise especially 2-3 years ago when he was making plays. I believe those were preseason games though. Spence don't cut it. Steelers have a habit of picking back up former players. I guess because they know the playbook. Dirty Red isn't the answer either.
 
When Fort finally got in tonight, he made some plays. He should definitely be the starter going forward.
DO NOT EVER put Moats in there again.
 
Spence hasn't played or practiced since week 3. He needs to ramp up to game speed. Having Dirty Red back is the best thing for this ILB position. He's servicable, smart, and can tackle.
 
I think Dirty Red is better than that. Im thinking a combination of Dirty red om down 1 and 2. Fort on third. Or maybe Watt on third.
 
LJ Fort is alot faster side to side......Spence needs to backup Fort while Dirty Red gets healthy.

Moats needs to backup OLB.

Fort deserves the starting job at ILB!

Dirty Red in against the run and Fort on more obvious passing downs would work.
Patriots will be running a lot of no huddle I would guess. They are going to try to take advantage of that weakness without question.
 
Im expecting nothing. Zero next week. They have to get something figured out going forward. Hopefully they win the next two. Get a two seed. Im good with that.
 
They fix it with long soul-sucking drives from the Steeler Offense in No-huddle that eat clock, work down the field and score all while keeping Cheater off the field.
 
They need an athlete. Maybe they should try to give Dupree a crash course at ILB for run situations. On pass situations, play an extra DB.
 
I know players at different positions are not simply interchangeable BUT after watching the ****-show last night with ZERO ILBs able to run a 4.75 or better...

I would MOVE Alvin to ILB as he should know the plays AND he is NOW the fastest LB on the roster by a mile. The only one comparable to Shaz. Have Watt and Deebo at OLB and let them switch back and forth to have Watt on the strong side of the formations.

Still rotate Chick in to spell at OLB. Dupree has seen more coverage this season than any other and MIGHT be able to handle Gronk. I know he is faster and he is a big guy. Gronk has ZERO moves, he's just taller and longer than most DBs and can push off to gain space without them being able to reach him. Dupree ran a 4.53 and could pursue well to the sidelines. It's worth a try. LJ Fort is the best we have behind Matakevich and both are slow. Fort is slow AND light in the pants. Moats and Spence are D line slow. I'd say we could move Davis into the ILB spot like Troy used to play but neither of our safeties know how to wrap their arms around a ball carrier and coming in and hitting a guy who outweighs you is only going to get you hurt. Alvin has size and speed...quite frankly we improve at both positions. Dupree isn't a great rusher. Deebo is. Dupree has more size/speed than some of our DBs who cannot tackle. Like I said, it's worth a shot right?

??? None of these guys know how to tackle. A bunch of ******* if ya ask me. Let a puss ball RB run for a 27 yd TD un touched? They're either a bunch of *******, or have no heart.
 
Dirty Red is no Shazier but who am I kidding the guy is irreplaceable. With that being said when Dirty Red comes back it should at least stop the bleeding. You know it’s bad when you have Moats playing ILB & a guy wearing street clothes for most of the season and last week starting for you. Cutting Spence some slack but no way he was going to step into a game like this and play at a high level. Also, Collins and the ravens have been running this for most of the year. It will also help getting Haden back.
 
I'll take any of this defense right here over any of the ******* we have on Defense now, and you can even throw in Harrison if you want: E L.C. Greenwood, Joe Greene, Ernie Holmes, Dwight White, Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Andy Russell, J.T. Thomas, Mel Blount ,,Mike Wagner, Glen Edwards
 
There was one play on that power lead right. Williams got cut. Spence dove from 7 yards away and was only 4 yards short.
 
How can you sign a guy off the street and play him that much?
 
We have huge gaping hole in the middle of the so called defense and we are still giving up huge, big plays, the most since 1968! Then Davis goes out and plays like a country salmon *** first, missing tackles, then hitting out of bounds then ruffing both for penalties!! They were bs calls but still the dude needs to get his head out of that safe dark place he is keeping it and get his head in the game!!!! Ya we are 11-2 we are loaded with talent! But this all comes down to butler and Haley. We are not going to beat anyone in the playoffs with ben throwing 66 times and the defense giving up big plays and allowing the other teams to run at will against us! On offense put in a full back to block and run the ball like you mean it!!! on defense play a four-man line, let tuitt and heyward set the edges against the run and rush the qb against the pass... ****-can the horrible Chinese fire drill you call a hybrid defense and man up and play defense the way it’s been taught and played in WPA since 1968... Mano on Mano!!!! Go steeeeeelersssss hahaha thx for letting me vent my wife loves the Steelers even more than me but she won’t let me vent in front of the kids lol
 
Bud was absolutely HORRIBLE - he SUCKED - totally out of position on every play, no wonder we couldn't hold the edge

at least Tomlin finally listened to us and put Harrison in there and moved tj to Buds spot on the final play to win the game
 
Yeah Dupree looks like he has regressed since his last set of injuries... they may need to thing about going more traditional 3/4 dline against a run first team like Jacksonville if itcomes down to that.... our dline gets more pressure but isn't quite as good vs the run these days...

I nave no clue how this staff always feels comfortable throwing guys signed off the street into big game situations.... scream next man up all you want, but not being familiar with current playcalls, schemes, and tendencies is a huge disadvantage
 
Our D gets shredded by a good rb. It has happened all year.
 
There really isn't much they can do. They'll be better with Matakevich, especially against the run, but there's still going to be a glaring lack of speed inside that teams are going to be able really exploit in the short passing game.

A total position change for Dupree or Watt in the middle of the season probably isn't feasible, but the Tomlin and Butler are going to need to be extremely creative /flexible with how they use them in coverage to compensate for the loss of Shazier.

Better safety play would help too.

yeah i was shocked by that too. I expected to see more fort with shazier backing him up.

I guess they are looking for speed ala shazier. But everyone saw that it was missing last night. Maybe with some practice under his belt this week, he will improve to fare better vs. the Patriots. Moats didnt look much better. Right now, our best help would be Metakavich coming back
 
Better hope Dirty Red comes back. We need him badly. Spence is not the answer. Rotate Dirty Red and Fort and send Spence back to life’s work.
