This is going catch on like a house on fire unless this is addressed quickly.

I understand the motive, and change is needed for healthcare, but a salary for being in the Hall? That’s somewhat excessive. Yeah I do think NFL should pay for the players expenses for the HOF members during HOF weekend.....but a yearly salary?

I'm beginning to lose faith in humanity.
This whole trying to change history mentality is KILLING us as a society.
Can ANY other professional in ANY other line of business complain about today's environment and economical stature vs what is was like decades ago and expect compensation for the discrepancy?
I used to deliver a local weekly newspaper in 1984 as a pre-teen kid and was paid $10.00/week plus tips for a 6 block delivery area.
Can I now demand commensurate compensation 35 years later because of the increased wages of today?!?!?!?
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F, PEOPLE?!?!
Nobody held a gun to their heads and forced them to play 30 - 50 years ago.
Give me a break. This is out of control already.

Never mind that several players that Dickerson identifies as part of the group have said that they had no knowledge of the letter and Jerry Rice has come out and said that he is not a member of the board as stated in the letter.

The NFL can do nothing about this until the next CBA. The NFLPA has already agreed on the pension amounts.

The proper thing to do would be to send the information to the NFLPA, not the NFL directly.

That’s the thing. There is no contractual basis for this. There is no contract to be in the Hall. HOF members are voted. Now the healthcare issue, that’s a separate problem that maybe needs addressed going forward in the CBA. I know in MLB, if you are on a roster for one game you are entitled for supplemental healthcare for the rest of your life.

Why just HoF players? Why not ALL NFL players? It's terrible to ignore all the guys who never made the Hall who suffered as well.

I'm kinda looking forward to telling my boss he can expect to keep paying my salary after I leave the company!

He needs a good laugh.

Let them boycott. I went to the HOF for Bettis , let me tell you they rush you through the hall, you pay according to where you eat and are herded in and placed in a holding fenced in area to eat. Old time players come walking by and red rose buds are thrown at their feet. You watch the ceremony and many of the HOF and older players are drunk hitting on women , truly observed this with four top players of the past. Half the speeches old HOF'ers aren't in their seats. Then they heard you out and stand in tight quarters for over an hour to get a bus. In the mean time some of the players and families . riding in golf yell at people to get out of their way they need to get to their cars. Let them boycott, good for Bettis but the rest was not worth one time spent.

Tell them to retract that ridiculous demand or they are banned from all future HOF events. Who cares if they show up or not anyway? ******* people can't even accept an honor without turning it into an entitlement.

Who gives a **** about the old HOFers being at the ceremony ? They look bored and bothered when the new inductees are speaking and spend all their time kibitzing with each other not the lowly fans.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is not an NFL entity, they are indeed separate.

I just think they took to many hits to head and are not thinking correctly.

If these hall of players were smart, they go on tour as a group to make extra $$$.

I might not care if Eric Dickerson is in town, but if he's with ten other hall of fame players, I might get a ticket and have them sign some stuff.

You mean actually earning some money instead of asking for a hand out? Many of these HOF guys can make a TON of money doing motivational speaking, corporate speaking...etc.

Some do. Others are the speaking types. If the Union was smart 10% of all earnings in the NFL would go into the player retirement fund.

LOL, they have no leverage. The current players will have to ask for changes, and that would be a priority to them well behind guaranteed contracts and more money right now. I agree it's a joke they aren't given life long health care. It's laughable that Dickerson thinks a HOF deserves more than the rest of the guys who helped get him there? The same selfish bullshit the current players subscribe to. The veteran's only hope is the current players striking and including them. Good luck with that.
