By Brandon J. Wallace SteelerNation.com Retired Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XL MVP and all-time receptions, receiving yardage, and receiving touchdowns leader, Hines Ward has been named coaching intern. Surprisingly, it’s not for the team you might expect. The New York Jets will add three coaches entering training camp including two Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship participants in […]

I love Hines and believe he did a great job working with the younger receivers during his playing days and as a training camp intern with the Steelers a couple of years ago. I also like that he is getting a chance with the Jets and actually like when coaches work their way up from the college ranks with numerous jobs. The more systems and coaches you're exposed to, the more you learn.

Great point, & good for Hines.

And we don't have the slightest clue that perhaps Hines wanted a job with the Steelers, but just wasn't offered one.

I'm pretty sure it was reported that he was a candidate for the WR coaching job here, also he worked a ton with JuJu in training camp when JuJu was a rookie. I was a training camp that year, and Ward was constantly talking with him.

and Ward was constantly talking with him.

I'm glad for Hines. Getting experience is absolutely necessary for a coach, regardless at what level. Eventually he could end up here or elsewhere but for now he is getting a chance. MOST here would want their respective chance as well, regardless of what level of team you played for or not.

Like our DC hiring (actual promoted from with in) I wanted outside organization hire, well now when it's time,..... We can hire outside the organization with Hines.

Salute the nation

Good for him. It doesn't matter that it's the Jets---hopefully, he teaches their WR's to knock out a few *'s DB's...
