With Richard Mann likely to make his 33rd season as an assistant coach his last the Steelers could soon be looking for a new receivers coach. That’s where the door could be left open for former Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward. Ward served as a coaching intern during training camp, and came back to help […]

He's seemed to have done well with JuJu, when I was at training camp, JuJu would go to Ward after pretty much every play off every drill.

Ward coached while he was here. Even when he was hurt, he'd be on the field getting his hands up so receivers could catch with their vision obscured. He has excellent hand placement, he runs perfect routes, and he knows how to teach blocking and and breaking jams at the LOS. He'd be a perfect WR coach.

Great replacement for Coach Mann.

He was a great player other than helping with juju does he have any coaching experience?

I'd say playing in the NFL for 13 years and helping out as an intern with the Steelers qualifies him to become a coach. Many NFL players transition to entry level position coaching spots every season. Ward wasn't someone who got by on shear talent. He had to be fundamentally better than everyone else because he wasn't faster then anyone else. Dude will he a solid coach.

oh, good god.
Ward as a WRs coach would be like when David Banner (JuJu) becomes the Hulk

Agreed. It's not like we're looking to hire him as head coach, or even OC, but as WR coach, which he is an expert in. Good first spot for a guy like him.

Nothing against ward by any means but I am pretty sure juju was going to be awesome with or without ward

Probably, but Ward was showing JuJu alot of techniques at training camp, AB said he learned alot from Ward as well.

Normally I like to see former players coach at a lower level before coaching in the NFL, but Ward seems to be a natural at it. He always was a coach on the practice field with the younger receivers during his playing days and looked comfortable with his time with the team team during training camp. He'd really be a perfect hire if Mann does retire.

no one ever has experience until they get that first chance. I say lets see what you got Mr. Ward

Ward has the heart and soul of a champion. Bring that hitmaster here ASAP.

Anyone who wouldn’t want this is a moron.

Sorry...was supposed to read wouldn’t.

Bring in Hines as a coach.

Any fundamentals, even the small details can bring out the best of a player.
I think the current WR group would be that much better
