Highsmith

Yea, he’s had injuries the past two seasons and sometimes you just have a string of bad luck. I like Herbig and he may become the full time starter but he’s not “consistently” out playing Highsmith, Nick has disappeared occasionally as well as do allot of good players. I just don’t think they’ll be able to afford all three considering Watt’s (another player who has disappeared occasionally recently) contract so Highsmith may be the odd man out.

Disagree with the OP.

Interviewed by gruden on site that shall not be named. Me likey.

I think Highsmith would bring the most value in a trade deal.

Herbig is weak at setting the edge, but very strong in splash-n-dash to the ball.

Salute the nation

Keep for now if Herbig is out performing in rotating role by mid oct trade and start Herbig and he Sawyer are your ROLB, if so consider one of the 3 round 3 picks on Edge rushers Derrick Moore or Barham, both Physical Freams, with Barham he has the versatility like Parsons and play MLB and blitz as well as from a 2 pt stance

Noticed the typo. Since the “F” and the “D” are next to each other on the keyboard, I’m assuming you meant “dreams”.
Physical dreams.

I wouldn't trade Highsmith or Herbig, I'm optimistic Graham will find a way to use all 3 effectively. If they did trade one, with the way edges are a premier position, it better be damn good compensation.
Pass rushers are a premium and should be treated as such. It’d be malpractice by Khan to get rid of Herbig.

They needed to trade him along time ago he’s a situation pass rusher that’s it and that’s all he’s been eating off of Heyward and watt’s plate since he got to Pittsburgh bugs me our “front office” can’t see that trade him now and rotate Herbig and 5 star…

Highsmith plays both the run and pass effectively.
If he was just a byproduct of TJ, he wouldn't have had his best season in 2022, when TJ was hurt, missed seven games, and came back at like 60% so Highsmith was the primary edge passrusher, put up 14.5 sacks and led the league in forced fumbles... rather than typically being in coverage or on the bench for all the exotic dumbass D's the prior staff ran in obvious passing downs.. .

If we make Highsmith available he instantly becomes the second best Edge guy available this offseason... and the first was already traded...

Crosby is basically the same age as Highsmith, and as produced .13 more sacks per game and while Crisby makes 4 tackles per game, highsmith makes 3.7... Crosby has a decisive edge on QB hits and TFL, but Highsmith still has great numbers there .. he averages a qb hit a game and double digit TFL per season

Crosby, however, has played a lot more snaps in his career, and that really isnt because of Highsmiths injuries.. Highsmith has missed 10 games, all in the past 2 years.. Crosby missed 7 games, also in the past two seasons...
Crosby has played one more year than Highsmith, and was given a starters role earlier than he was that year, but a lot of the stat difference was that while Crosby plays over 94% of defensive snaps in ganes he was active for the past 4 seasons, Tomlin rotates Olbs and rarely plays them more than 86% of the time... Highsmith and TJ each have one season of 88% def snap%... and since Herbig came along both have had significant drops in snap counts... and highsmith has lost a ton of premium pass rush snaps the past three years...

Bottom line, if Crosby is worth two low firsts, it isnt unreasonable to think Highsmith isnt worth at least a first to a team like the Cowboys or saints...

I get what you guys are saying about Highsmith. With that said, I think we could find a team (sucker) to give us a second/third round pick for him and we take another linebacker in that round to replace him. I'd be willing trust Khan that he can find one again in the later rounds.
